@WashedOutGundamPilot Last I heard Russia has been improving their air defense tech constantly. Meanwhile the USA and the rest of the West has let their stuff rot. So how would an F-35 actually fare when faced with Russian AD radar and sam systems?

Especially in a wartime situation where maintenance becomes much harder to keep up on.

The only way they can get these planes in the air without being blown to bits on the ground is if they fly missions from a third party country. I don’t think the people who really run nato actually want that. Maybe they really ARE that dumb, but I dunno. :shrug_yui:

IIRC Russia also had some captured mercs put to death. Would be just deserts if Russia manages to capture some F-16 mercs and put them to death. @deprecated_ii I can somewhat understand the desire for foolproofing given how little training, guidance and instruction is given to typical plant operators, at least from the non-nuclear utilities perspective.

But why is that? Why not make sure your workers are knowledgeable and competent to handle their jobs in all circumstances? Oh wait, management doesn’t actually know how to manage people, they just want to manage soulless machines. The fewer and less skilled the operators are, the better, because then you spend less on payroll. Except when something goes wrong and the workers don’t know what to do, resulting in a disaster. But at least the bean-counters got to look good to the boss with all the money they saved.

@WashedOutGundamPilot I do the same thing at work. Whenever I’m told to organize all the junk we keep holding on to I sort and put it all in boxes marked with the date they were packed. If I do end up needing something I can grab it, if not whatever is left after a year or two gets thrown in the dumpster.

After Hurricane Michael tore up Tyndall AFB and trashed those F-22s the enlisted airmen stuck there pretty much had the whole place to themselves. So they went over to the flight line side and looted all the Squadron’s “Heritage rooms” (Actually just well-stocked bars) of all the liquor.

I was not able to buy a house in my 20s. As much as I hate having to keep paying a mortgage I would not want to be paying rent right now.

When I saw my property manager keep raising my rent each time the lease came up for renewal I saw the writing on the wall. The only thing that saved me was being able to avoid having to make a down payment thanks to a VA loan. I was not anywhere near having enough money. Had I not been a veteran and been able to take advantage of that, I would still be renting, paying at least twice what I currently pay on my mortgage in rent, and nowhere near towards saving enough money to make that down payment for a loan.
