@rrb@DutyBard@freemo@pj I agree it's possible we have an overall higher violent death per capita, but it's not something that can be drawn from an opinion piece from the new york times.
If we assume for a moment that we do have more violence (I don't think we are #1 in that area, but for the sake of argument), the question should be how to quell the violence not how to change it's form. Why do we seem to have a higher percentage of our population willing to become violent to get what they want. Is it a higher percentage or is there a lot of recidivism? If so is there any way to reduce that? If not what needs to change in our culture? It can't simply be access to guns the problem of violence starts before you grab a weapon.
@pj@freemo@DutyBard Seems reasonable, although, I would posit that defensive gun use is pretty objective. If I see kids on my lawn and brandish a firearm to scare them, for me it may seem to be defensive gun use for them it is aggression.
In any case, gun violence is now the #1 cause of death among young people in the USA. Gun deaths are higher in states with laxer laws. They are increasing over time. If you compare the USA with, for example, Australia which is culturally pretty similar, some conclusions seem pretty clear.
So the #1 reason the Ada compiler in GCC is a bitch to build is you need to create a runtime for it. Which isn't a problem if your platform has ada of some sort but I'm talking "obscure (except to gamers) 80s/90s Japanese computers". Sure you can use Ada/GNAT if you run a bloated BSD OS instead of it's original DOS ripoff OS...
Older versions required you to write out a specification and all that fun shit. There's an LLVM port to m68k but who gives a fuck about LLVM and Apple outside of Linux on some big arch anyway? In fact Windows on ARM sucks ass because it only has LLVM and MSVC, not GCC.
@fluffy it's amazing. I was scared that it blew it's load, but it didn't
It's staying in AOTS tier along with Oshi no Ko (legendary first ep, which is 1h22mins. BTW it's like currently #3 of all times on anilist and #1 on MAL, they knocked it out of the part), Jigokuraku and the past AOTY winner, Ousama Ranking
@ArdainianRight@ItsSkyDragonz@Shlomo@admin@verita84 Couldn't there be guards keeping the trains orderly? Did niggers have to be the reason the #1 economy in the world could not afford to have high speed trains?
@caekislove@meso it is and the music people are the worst at it or up there with it.
Also that's why people like Prince, Robert Fripp, the guy behind Supertramp, etc had no music on streaming sites for years. They went "dude where's my money". When Prince died his CDs went to #1 on tons of positions on Amazon because he notoriously did not sell mp3s and the only streaming service he used was one that promised actual compensation
@MoeBritannica :yoko_think: I'm retarded, so please help me out here. #1 is justified in terms of horizontal placement, but #2 is justified in terms of top-down.
@Spergo1875@SK1ZM@BobsonDugnuttHB this is what happened a few years ago with treyarch. Before the whole "treyarch is shit to work at" article by the Kotaku "journalist", there was some reddit leaker who went by CallOfNobodyCares. Aside from leaking the zombies stuff, he talked about how buck broken he was living in a car for a chance to work at Treyarch.
"I was on the second shift and we were scheduled from 2p-2a today with a lunch break at 5p. Due to a third shift coming in at 3p, we were retroactively told at 5:15p that we could go on break at 6p. So, I went on break at 6p and when I returned I was instantly fired with no opportunity to defend or explain myself. The reason was because after I had left at 6p, they had again retroactively pushed back our lunch break from 6p to 7p without informing us. They just tossed me away like a piece of trash, the QA employee with the most issues reported and the only employee who plays the game outside of work, all because they wanted to keep retroactivetly pushing our lunch break back. Yes, they fired me because I clocked out for my lunch break at the time they told me to go but then changed their mind after I had already went on my break. It's completely ludicrous. They even called security on me because I refused to leave without my personal belongings, they actually refused to give me my personal belongings at first. They finally gave me my belongings and said to each other, 'What's the loss to us?" Wow, just wow. This was a dream job for me, I've played since I was a kid. I hosted and joined countless EE sessions on trueacheivements. I drove myself across the country and have slept in my car for two years to be able to work here. I actually had the #1 most bugs reported and am admittedly the only employee on the Zombies EE team who plays Call of Duty outside of work. They just crushed my heart by firing me over their miscommunication of when to take my lunch break after retroactively pushing it back twice. Sadly, they are not strangers to extremely poor time and break management and then turning around and blaming QA for any miscommunication."
The #1 problem with pascal besides being "uncool" and having to deal with Microsoft poaching at least one major dev for C# is that the standard version was restrictive and the better versions like Object Pascal were not standardized. Also FPC is not that well optimized from what I've heard. There's also the fact that schools began to shove people towards c#/VB.
Also the Borland Delphi variant is closed source while FPC is FOSS.
It's not just kids they go for, but a lot of times it's depressed 20something year old men stuck at home and going nowhere in life. That is the idea behind flooding 4chan with propaganda, and netting kids in it is a happy little accident to them. After all, "I wish I could have started younger" is a common theme in that community.
To add to this theory, this is also something that trans YouTube stars push on people. No really, Jesse Singal's famous Atlantic article that made him public enemy #1 with that group for a while literally opened with a paragraph about a girl who was depressed and saw a youtuber talk about how "I was depressed until I decided I was trans" and thought "maybe I'm trans too. That is the true mind poison here, anyone who is down on their luck in life from clownworld will be convinced maybe if I do these drugs my life will improve.
The other clever trick is that the ideology is religious in nature. You don't need to be born as such, you can easily convert and reap the benefits today. It's a common myth that they "infiltrated" so and so when the infiltration was from within, someone who was a longstanding community pillar trooned out and half the Discord group did too the next day. Eventually their weird autistic hobbies get replaced with or supplemented with trying to recruit as many people as possible, not unlike when a washed up pop star/actor would stereotypically have a conversion to Islam/Christianity and have that "phase" where it dominated their life. Now look at how many troons online have religion in their life and there you go.
Country music is literally just as shit as "christian music" that klove and pals play. But instead of ranting about it, I think this video where six different #1 country songs by six different musicians were edited in between each other proves my point. https://yewtu.be/FY8SwIvxj8o

@Suzu it's very looked down upon because people go in, invest 100 bucks and one the following things happen:
1) The project rugpulls, you just got scammed lol. 2) Shit project that goes below its mint price, you are on a loss. 3) The project is successful, it remains above its mint price and you can decide when to sell and take profits.
Most people that goes into this expect #3 to happen often, when it's actually very uncommon. You'll see quite often #2 and often enough #1
@RustyCrab@PunishedD@deprecated_ii Someone in a chat for an obscure programming language had a point; ChatGPT is literally a goddamn scam. Just throw it some code for a language that isn't the #1 or popular with H1Bs/codemonkeys and it'll just shit itself.
