@mischievoustomato @WashedOutGundamPilot @givenup you and me both brother. The biggest culture shock I ever experienced was leaving the states, seeing lots of qt Italian chicks and then coming back to the US and seeing just how far the standards dropped over here.

It's still possible to snag them in the states though, I hope I can do that and then bring her to Europe so she's embarrassed and tries to fit in. Like the complete opposite of dudes who bring their thai brides to the US and are surprised they're bitchy.

I meant more the out-and-about crowd has changed dramatically. In the 00s you'd see goths, peppy track girls, open "otakus" and plain janes. now theyve kinda combined into an SSRI puddle

@WashedOutGundamPilot I know conceptually that "tomboy" and "weeb shut-in" exist because I grew up with both, but fast forward to present day and tomboy is either married or trooned out, and weeb shut-in is functionally nonexistent to anyone other than her parents

@WashedOutGundamPilot @KingDenizen A lot of it is a cost-benefit analysis where you weigh the resources/time to fix vs the money of a brand new part, and in the US most are willing to work an extra hour instead of wasting hours patching/gluing/soldering. It's short-sighted, where learning that skill might pay dividends in the future, but very few people have been in a scenario where they can't just amazon new equipment overnight.

this is also why so many Americans live off fast food btw

@WashedOutGundamPilot @KingDenizen There's also a skill to be developed within "recycling" where dudes will make one failed attempt at sewing a patch on a worn backpack and just throw it away. I've definitely done that with electronics, but I usually attempt to fix them before trashing it.

@WashedOutGundamPilot Learning rhetoric/sophistry is a largely undeveloped skill because most guys with our beliefs are also social rejects/autists. It's also step 1, when most of us want to skip to step 14 (making 'camp of the saints' required reading in school instead of 'to kill a mocking bird')

@WashedOutGundamPilot I also think there's a larger point to be made about how any religion can be molded to fit values. Nietzsche correctly pointed out that Christianity has always had a lame submissive bend to it, but it just worked for over a thousand years because it was malleable. Now it's been made into a battering ram for equality, but it could be shaped into any number of things as long as there is a change in the priest class

Religion is such a great tool for discussion-ending clichés and so it's an excellent target for subversion. I can hardly speak to my parents without them bringing up charity or other Christian virtues, bent and twisted to silence any logical solutions to problems.

God will surely forgive the man who sends himself to hell to save his loved ones. If not, and terrible destruction and violence is our burden to bear, I will smile in the inferno knowing my children will not be slaves and subjects to beasts.

I got some GenX dads I work with who I assume have daughters, but they respectfully don't bring them up to coworkers, and I'm not sure "hey can I wife up your girlfailure" has a good segway. When it does come up, do you just set up a date to meet her or what?

Speaking from personal experience, I've got a few siblings who were in this age bracket years back and never played the game, peaked, and now are even less desirable to the opposite sex, so it has me worried about whether I should just get with someone now rather than get left single later in life.

I could get a gf pretty quickly if I really pushed myself to get out there, but i dont really want the girls im surrounded by. literally feels better to be single than share a life with them tbh

@WashedOutGundamPilot @PraxisOfEvil @MechaSilvio High school sweetheart was a second generation Russian immigrant. She didn't have a lot of friends because the other girls thought she was aloof. At the time it was perfect for my lack of self confidence, but I could've easily been stuck in that pit with no growth.

Sometimes I still wish things worked out, but ultimately I think I could do better. No offense to any russian chicks reading this

@WashedOutGundamPilot @PraxisOfEvil @MechaSilvio R1a humans are not so different from R1b, but I feel like if we had a wave of Russian immigration to the US, probably half would be misdiagnosed as autistic and the other half as clinically depressed when that's just kinda how they are.

@Giganova8 @WashedOutGundamPilot There were times when I literally would do nothing, like sitting in a library and got a job offer by the staff because I was approachable (didn't have headphones in) and that kept me afloat for a while. I'm also not advocating for an elimination of hobbies, but there's things that are as fun as video games and get you out of tough positions. Ever operated a forklift, excavator, or crane? The learning curve can be rough but entertaining for a while, and theres enough heavy machines that you could feasibly hop from one to the next once you get bored. I mean, dudes play euro truck simulator for free when they could be getting cash doing it for real.

@Giganova8 @WashedOutGundamPilot I think there's a balance. Speaking personally, I took a gaming sabbatical for years partially just to prove I could, and in that time I had so many different offers and opportunities thrown at me simply because I was out and about rather than cooped up in my room.
