@deprecated_ii@bleedingphoenix@jetzkrieg@coolboymew Growing up without abundance imprints on you. I have tools and clothes that are more decades old than I'm willing to admit - and they are still in near perfect condition.
The other day a friend wondered "why do you have covers on everything"? Because I prefer the dogs scratch up the cheap blanket and not the more expensive sofa.
@lichelordgodfrey@WashedOutGundamPilot@sickburnbro The 20th century was an anomaly with cheap energy(oil). With energy less available due to green madness, history is likely to return to older patterns.
Nations (outside of the west) that build nuclear plants will be somewhat better off.
These days you have to be careful with that. Propaganda and hermeneutics of gay suspicion ruined the old model of elders teaching and sharing their knowledge and experience with the younger generation. "why is this guy around kids not his own, is he some fag trying to fuck them?"
I think about self improvement differently. I don't work on improving to be rewarded by money or whatever. Being more capable, having more skills and knowledge/understanding of how things work is a reward in itself. Even if you don't use it for anything practical (at this time).
@DW2 >In The Past is a Future Country, the authors trace it back to the Industrial Revolution. Darwinian selection massively weakened, meaning that, for the first time in history, the selfish, sick and stupid could survive and reproduce, undermining our religious, group-oriented culture. Now the West is scourged by an epidemic of narcissists, competing to signal their individuality and moral superiority. But their ‘fight for equality’ is really a fight for self-promotion. Reflecting this runaway individualism, Westerners increasingly don’t have children, save for those who are genetically resistant to this onslaught ― the staunchly conservative and religious: the eventual inheritors of the earth. >But there is a dark storm brewing in the demographic data that the authors have analyzed. There is a burgeoning growth in the population of exceptionally unintelligent and antisocial people that social welfare systems cannot sustain for much longer. The developed world will pass away, and the global population that depends on it will crash, in the greatest Malthusian Collapse of all time.
@furgar Interesting these evil assholes won't retire to enjoy their ill-gotten wealth. Makes me think blackmail is used to drive them. "No Hillary, you can't just get drunk, you have to go out there and shill CBDC."
That's BS. Physical buttons cost money and they want to keep that as profit.
As to Garmin, I never understood why they are so stingy with screen sizes on their products. Screens are not an expensive items any more, and smaller screens, esp with touch buttons are really bad for usability.
@Smirking At this point I'm not donating anything to anybody unless I know exactly who's going to receive it. I'm not supporting some jew profiting or some "charity org" person receiving a large salary to send my donation to niggers or illegals.
@Koropokkur Combined with hours of physical exercise 4 hrs of sleep is not enough to properly recover. It's ok for a few days as a demonstration of "bare minimums". Over an extended period it's really bad both physically and mentally.
He who dares not offend cannot be honest. - Thomas PaineThe object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. - Marcus AureliusThe measure of a man's strength is how much truth he can endure. - Nietzsche (paraphrased)It's easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. - Mark TwainThe more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws. - TacitusThe closer the collapse of the Empire, the crazier its laws are. - Marcus Tullius CiceroOur collapse will make historians stop referencing the "Fall of Rome". - random autist on the interwebzPeople who can't defend themselves physically (women and low-T men) parse information through a consensus filter as a safety mechanism. They do not ask "is this true", they ask "will others be ok with me thinking this is true."
