@deprecated_ii there are many interesting aspects to murder stats:
Non-Whites are represented as Whites. This happens officially (with arabs) and unofficially (with hispanics being represented as non-hispanic Whites, and with mystery meats being represented as Whites)
Crimes with unknown perpetrators happen in disproportionately non-White areas (e.g. Chicago). The races of perps are imputed from the crime rates of the local area, then the black murder rate goes from ~55% to 65-70%
There have been major advances in trauma care since the 1950s. If we had the same level of trauma care as the 1950s then the murder rate would be several times higher (and the blacks' share would likely increase). Amusingly anti-gun retards try to take this as proof of guns being dangerous, but of course this is proof of blacks (and hispanics) being dangerous.
anyway, I did a bit of digging in the data (CDC Wonder). Deaths from assault have remained relatively flat. Deaths from accidents have increased 2.5x
@Hoss@suquili I kind of disagree. 3 elements to success are: working hard, "working smart", and taking risks.
Improving any of the elements will (on average) result in better outcomes (although you can take things too far - work too hard, be too smart about things, and take dumb risks)
A good example of this was a Google employee who said he loved working there because he only did 3 hours of work and then used the rest of his time on his side project.
If you you are 10/10 on working hard and 0/10 on "working smart" and taking risks, then you're going to have a bad time. But if you're 5/10 for all of them and you go to 7/10 for working hard, then things will likely improve.
@istvan@Ahabnova@sun honestly, I'm glad the barriers exist. There are way to many 3rd worlders on the internet as it is without having to deal with another billion+ chinese
