     @deprecated_ii there are many interesting aspects to murder stats:

     1. Non-Whites are represented as Whites. This happens officially (with arabs) and unofficially (with hispanics being represented as non-hispanic Whites, and with mystery meats being represented as Whites)
     2. Crimes with unknown perpetrators happen in disproportionately non-White areas (e.g. Chicago). The races of perps are imputed from the crime rates of the local area, then the black murder rate goes from ~55% to 65-70%
     3. There have been major advances in trauma care since the 1950s. If we had the same level of trauma care as the 1950s then the murder rate would be several times higher (and the blacks' share would likely increase). Amusingly anti-gun retards try to take this as proof of guns being dangerous, but of course this is proof of blacks (and hispanics) being dangerous.

     anyway, I did a bit of digging in the data (CDC Wonder). Deaths from assault have remained relatively flat. Deaths from accidents have increased 2.5x
