Yeah, but you start with more of a casual approach. PUA stuff is often very gross and degenerate, but there's value in learning body language and signals. Stuff like seeing their eyes move away when you look at them, them touching your arm casually or playing with their hair about while talking to you is good to notice, also what they say to you (topics, context, etc.) and how. Men are more direct, right? Women will mention it's cold and assume you understand they want to cuddle or something, while a man saying it's cold is just matter of fact statement or idle chat. Apply that same logic across the board but don't misread friendliness.
>does that mean I can be insistent without being creepy?
Yes, but read the room and situation. With fish, the hook must be set before you try to bring it in. Be fairly sure you're not wildly misreading the situation, and laugh it off if you are. It will happen. "Hey, there's this [fun activity that is happening in a group setting] soon. Any chance you'd want to go?" Something like that shows your interest, isn't threatening or creepy, and gives opportunity for her to politely decline if she's not interested or taken or whatever and possibly propose an alternative if she is legitimately busy but interested.
>So am I over complicating it or flat wrong. Also we are in a drought.
Not any worse than every other dude in history. We used to have a society which promoted families and we could outsource some of our grug high functioning "tism" towards it. The drought aspect is real though. Still, you'll miss every fish you don't try to catch and practice does really help. So does booze if you drink, but just enough to not be self conscious. -

Being coy/hard to get is the natural reaction of a lot of women. What's incredibly gay about our current culture is they teach "no means no" and dudes who are normal and just trying to make their way through life hear that and believe it. They should've been teaching people not to rape or be in rape-promoting situations and encouraging a culture of men that beat the shit out of dudes who try to rape or drug girls or get them overly drunk to take advantage of them. Instead, they disempowered the only ones who cared— those who actually listened. No doesn't always mean no, and any man who's married can tell you that.
>This is obviously paradoxical because a man talking to or asking out a woman is by definition interested in them. Here is how I square the circle: You are supposed to want to talk/have a date and she just happens to be there.
It's like fishing. The line has to be there but if the fish recognizes it as bait, they won't bite. Instead it just needs to be appealing to them and present. When we had more social activities in our culture, being around other people was a normal thing and an opportunity to have your metaphorical fishing line out there. -

Santa Noodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 13:14:21 JST Santa Noodle ☦️ @doctorsex @SuperLutheran Some of the traditions came out of old testament religion practices continued forward, and some were revealed to priests/bishops/etc. in a dream (not a joke). I value tradition, and I see scripture as the most important part of it. It's become hard to separate the two for me, because exagesis is a tradition even if it can exist entirely outside of any one particular church body. Churches have overstepped interpretation many times, and that's not unique to Protestants or Catholics or Orthodox. My favorite church traditions are ascetic, because it's about removing unnecessary things to leave room for God to work in your life and heart. One could certainly derive that from scripture, but practical application is the area I appreciate having more guidance on. -
Santa Noodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 13:14:20 JST Santa Noodle ☦️ @doctorsex @SuperLutheran Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom has a lot of cool symbolism that is designed to honor and teach through showing and participation. For example, metal fans called ripidia with pictures of seraphim on both sides of the altar, and they're carried out when scripture is read or holy communion. Allegedly the idea of ripidia came to him (or some other church father) in a dream where he saw angels praying and worshipping God, following the word of God as it was brought out for the reading and body and blood of Christ at communion. The metal fans represent the seraphim and are a physical reminder of the spiritual nature of prayer and worship and of the angels worshipping God with us. The tradition doesn't save you, but it's important for a lot of reasons.

I also see her as a great model for all believers because of her attitude that we see at the end of this passage, and it's probably a large part of why she was chosen by God for her role as Christ's mother (at least as I see it). -

They're often correct, but they miss the mark on the utility aspect of r&d uncovering happy accidents and side benefits. Plus they're not always right. How many engineers swore Koenigsegg would never hit what they claimed on paper until the dynameter silenced them? -

Santa Noodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 23-Nov-2023 12:57:38 JST Santa Noodle ☦️ @FourOh-LLC What do you mean? All I'm saying is the consumer grade motors are better now than 10 or 20 years ago, and battery tech is the reason. An electric lawnmower can pull 3,000 watts, which is not something the average person has a spare supply for. The argument can certainly be made that electric lawnmowers are a waste, but not requiring oil changes or routine maintenance is handy. -

100+ years of policy decisions unfortunately suggest otherwise. I do think people are nervous about how it will damage things at large, hence the desire to contain it. The dumb thing is everyone knew this was the inevitable outcome of opening Pandora's box and yet they're surprised. -
Santa Noodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 23-Nov-2023 12:51:14 JST Santa Noodle ☦️ @FourOh-LLC I'm game for that. The best thing to come out of battery "green" grift movements are ancillary, like better motor tech and controllers. Efficiency is way up on standard consumer electric motors in the past decade and consequently performance. Fuel cells are a neat tech that's underutilized with a lot of potential and could be the intermediary, which is why we won't see mass adoption or r&d dollars poured into it. -
