You will be assured that the server 3 time zones away is plugged in and turned on, and you will get multiple tickets to the network guys trying to troubleshoot it. 8 hours later you open a ticket on their manager, who finally yells at someone to walk over to the physical box and look at it, then they come back and say "oh there's black char marks all around the plug".
50/50 odds that it'll be plugged in after they replace the PSU a day later.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @YTFoidLover1488 @eee There's literally nobody to GIVE any shit to Gary at this point. Hollywood doesn't know about him, the comic distributors can't cut him off now that he doesn't have a shop, and all the woke crowd he tears into are toothless social media harpies. The only group that can harm him is YouTube, and they're fine with his brand of non-offensive anti-woke critique.
I watch some of these guys for background noise, they're fine for what they are. I don't begrudge them their entertainment shows. Gary in particular is really well-versed in comics history, so if you're a lapsed fan it's good to have him doing the critique of new stuff.
But I also don't understand why anyone would treat them as revolutionary or super impactful. They're simply in sync with a disgruntled portion of the audience for pop culture.
At least Sargon went out, ran for office, and had food thrown at him in the streets. No one from Gary's shows are going to do anything beyond making videos with algorithm-friendly thumbnails.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @eee I'll offer a mild defense there. When you sink your own money into a business like that, you hang on as long as you can. You don't have the luxury of tuning out of culture at the first hint of subversion, when your revenue is literally dependent on selling it at volume and customers are still buying.

But some idiots did try to convert the ladies in the Official Man-Haters Thread, it made quite the mess across the whole Official Hate ecosystem before mods stepped in.

Basically, on KF big issues like this get two threads, one to shit on each side, and to separate the absolute fucktards who will sperg for dozens of pages at each other. We have anti- and pro-Trump threads, anti/pro Ukraine war, multiple Covid threads, and now anti/pro Israel/Palestine threads. If Null had to step in and sweep out a few pages, odds are some retards from one thread switched to the others to pick a fight.
(The worst offenders aren't actually the political ones right now, it's the Official Woman Haters and Official Man Haters threads.)

@BroDrillard @WashedOutGundamPilot @poastoak Slight disagreement: rings are supposed to be expensive as a safety net for women. If there's an emergency, it's a compact, portable chunk of wealth she can sell to get out of trouble, or support the family, etc. And if she gets divorced or widowed, she can sell the ring and use it to get her footing or set up a new house.
The rule for men is it should cost "two month's salary", because you are essentially giving her 2 month's living expenses as a cushion (or parachute).
Modern expensive weddings are absolutely a status symbol though. The traditional wedding is held in a nearly-free communal building (church or social hall). The big elaborate or event weddings are aping political weddings of nobility and royalty, big events that were necessary to display the familial/political alliance. They are literal fairy tale fantasies you go into debt for.
