@RustyCrab @deprecated_ii This is the most unbelievable combination of female "programmer" stereotype (UX drone) and male "rock star" bragging I have ever witnessed.

@deprecated_ii @pawlicker @RustyCrab Even outside of fedi, all the really good engineers I know IRL have been moving to rural/semi-rural areas, starting up trade skill hobbies, and just doing tech for the paycheck. The remote work boom really shook the buy-in of corporate IT culture.

@WashedOutGundamPilot Don't discourage them. Every suburb needs a Zimmerman.
-
@WashedOutGundamPilot Why do the girls even come on this podcast? Do they get paid? Or is everyone just aching to talk about ethics in e-whoring.
I don't understand how they think they come out of this setting looking good.
-
@p Is "techbros" the new "racist"? I'm trying to collect as many labels for bigotry as possible.

@WashedOutGundamPilot This is would be the thing that makes me flip.

@Shadowman311 I'm getting mixed messages here.

@teknomunk @Paultron @WashedOutGundamPilot @Bro-Drillard @MoralPanic @Rasterman @teknomunk No more than 20%, and don't call me Alexa.
-
@teknomunk @WashedOutGundamPilot @Bro-Drillard @MoralPanic @Rasterman @teknomunk It's important to keep reminding people of these stories. It's one thing for anons on the Internet to talk big, they sound like keyboard warriors and you could believe they'll collapse.
It's much better to remind the "it's a power fantasy" FUD spreaders that SHTF every decade or so, and the prepared really do make a difference.
-
@teknomunk @WashedOutGundamPilot @Bro-Drillard @MoralPanic @Rasterman @teknomunk As chaos goes up, "low profile" space increases.
Everyone remembers Rittenhouse, he was in the middle of the main street of Kenosha. Nobody remembers the cul-de-sac dads. And nobody investigated the looters who got shot off camera.
-
@matty @IAMAL_PHARIUS It's Teams in literally every single shot where you can see the screen.
-
@teknomunk @WashedOutGundamPilot @MoralPanic @Bro-Drillard @Rasterman @teknomunk I will never tire of posting this video.
The left screeched about Rittenhouse because, coincidentally, all the riots nationwide stopped the day after he shot 3 of them in the streets. The videos I don't have on hand are the ones from earlier that night, where armed suburban dads blocked off cul-de-sacs to keep them safe.
The shots I was alluding to were off-screen armed citizens shooting at looters, who broke off of Kenosha's main street and went into residential neighborhoods. After Kyle blows away a fake medic's bicep, you see him walking backwards looking for the source of those other shots you hear in the background.
Clear signals were sent in 2020. Both sides need to learn from it.
-
@teknomunk @MoralPanic @Bro-Drillard @Rasterman @WashedOutGundamPilot @teknomunk They're not all talk. Look into what happened in Kenosha 2020 other than Kyle Rittenhouse shooting criminals. Half the gunshots you hear in the videos aren't coming from him.
Realistically, I expect the gangs first, some bad looting and murders, then the firefights. The feds come after that, and that's where things get interesting.
Depending on the city and on how bad the firefights get, they'll try barricading key roads, or armed street patrols, or a door-to-door search. We saw small versions of all 3 in 2020.
But they don't have the manpower or credibility to do a full scale occupation and confiscation in more than 1 suburbs. I think seizing weapons to "diffuse the situation", especially with the laws and Executive Orders of the last 3 years, is the most likely attempt. But if they start taking food, they're going to get outflanked and overrun VERY fast.
Cities can be locked down and controlled easier, but they'll also get looted and burned faster. Get out.
-
@teknomunk @WashedOutGundamPilot @Bro-Drillard @teknomunk @Rasterman People don't realize how close 2008 was to Armageddon though. There was a point when we were 1 week out from the trucking system freezing up and nobody in the cities getting food.
If/when collapse happens, it will NOT be evenly distributed. If the System gets saved, it will do so at the "acceptable cost" of some parts being allowed to fail.
Get out of the cities. Even if collapse never happens, it'll still be beneficial for your health and happiness.
-
@teknomunk @MoralPanic @WashedOutGundamPilot @Bro-Drillard @Rasterman @teknomunk There's no food in the suburbs, it's city levels of storage, just more widely distributed.
Besides, the feds wouldn't get there before the roving gangs of hungry "urban youth" anyway. And if that's who come down first, they're going to run into those gear-crazy AR-15 owners who fantasize about exactly that scenario.
-
@WashedOutGundamPilot Don't worry bro, when HR comes for you, we'll all swear you are a massive faggot.
-
@WashedOutGundamPilot @DW2 There was a point around the 2008 crisis where the system screwed over the physical gold side of things in favor of paper gold. The big guys like the banks couldn't redeem on demand, so they changed the laws to protect the paper holders. (Think the Gamestop/Robinhood share freeze, rigging the game.)
There's long been suspicion that central banks, which still are required to take gold seriously, were manipulating the paper markets to make their moves seem less disastrous. You aren't going to discover real gold prices on the markets any more--go to your local "we buy/sell gold" place and see if they have any for sale.
-
@AnonymousBosch @anonaccount @Shadowman311 @Royper Oral exams are racist, you know. Minorities performed lower on them because they don't speak and communicate the same way as whitey. That causes them anxiety and the inability to remember answers.
(This is from back when they tried to formalize Ebonics and AAVE as legitimate language forms.)
