     @DW2 For all the talk about gold, since I was like, 10 yo, I don’t think it’s ever moved more than $500

     When I was young it was like “shit man, buy LOTS OF GOLD while it’s $1600!!!! It’s gonna explode!!!”

     Here I am an adult and it’s “mooning” to almost $2k

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @DW2 There was a point around the 2008 crisis where the system screwed over the physical gold side of things in favor of paper gold. The big guys like the banks couldn't redeem on demand, so they changed the laws to protect the paper holders. (Think the Gamestop/Robinhood share freeze, rigging the game.) There's long been suspicion that central banks, which still are required to take gold seriously, were manipulating the paper markets to make their moves seem less disastrous. You aren't going to discover real gold prices on the markets any more--go to your local "we buy/sell gold" place and see if they have any for sale.

     @DW2 I know, still funny to me. I have a long memory, and I’ve always been surrounded by the kinds of uh….’infowars’ types. All that lecturing about the end of the world being a year away, the depression starting in a month, the economy sending gold, oil and bullets to the stratosphere just goes into the “a-huh, right“ pile by now.

     It’s crazy to think it’s just been seesawing in the same narrow band all this time. Glad I went in on silver when it was……ah shit it was more expensive back then!

     @fluffy @DW2 Kinda, TBH I got them in trade with something and I later sold them off for money in order to survive. It is what it is.

     I consider myself lucky enough to have gotten like, a 1200X out of them, I think I accepted them at a value of like, $1.21 per
