Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Saturday, 26-Aug-2023 13:15:10 JST Christmas_Man I imagine if they're looking to hit that same market segment as Piaggio tried with the Avanti, they're gonna be DOA. There's a reason you can find a King Air on just about any ramp anywhere in the world for a reason. -
Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Aug-2023 11:21:54 JST Christmas_Man Yes they was. All chars on a typewriter have the same typesetting/width, so the extra space makes it easier to read copy. The advent of the computer makes the addition of the extra space unnecessary as each letter has its slack taken up making spacing more obvious. -
Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Aug-2023 08:26:22 JST Christmas_Man How can't they love it, they're spoon fed all the talking points AND the reaction they should have to the talking points that they're expecting to hear in response. You dare to spoil their Professional Wrestling by not participating? You monster! -
Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Tuesday, 22-Aug-2023 06:49:40 JST Christmas_Man I brought my dad and his old lady with me when I left California. It was definitely a mistake, because every so often I'll hear a shout of "Alexa set a timer" before they leave the house and forget the timer (that will alarm over the stereo that's been cranked to max volume) or "Alexa shuffle my likes" followed by 45 minutes of top 40 radio from 2005, occasionally interrupted with a shout of "Alexa, skip this song" every couple of tracks and "Alexa turn up/down the volume" for every track. My dad got the message when I asked if he could use the app on his phone instead, but his old lady just got all weepy eyed like I just insulted her entire existence. -

Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Tuesday, 15-Aug-2023 12:42:14 JST Christmas_Man I saw a few videos going over one of these with a couple guys that had brought a bunch over and assembled one or two. They looked like they were fairly well thought out with longevity in mind like an actual trainer might be. -
Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Sunday, 13-Aug-2023 04:15:49 JST Christmas_Man This makes me think of what I've been seeing a lot of lately as I'm looking at returning to the labor force after taking a sabbatical. I work in physical infrastructure/utilities and have noticed that the larger, higher paying companies that have gotten all the government contracts are hiring for cultural fits to their companies and willingness to take on more generic collateral duties vs competence for the specific role they're filling. Smaller companies that are more focused in their field have a narrower window of what they're asking for; they overall ask less from their employees, but they pay less while offering a higher quality of service to their customer for the same cost. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens to critical infrastructure as the high competence, high skill workers eventually all leave the megacorps due to no longer checking all the boxes that HR asks them to. -

Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Monday, 03-Jul-2023 04:26:40 JST Christmas_Man The one pair of Sennheisers I had about 10 years ago failed by a combo of cable and headband after 2 years. The Audiotechnicas I had failed on the headband swivels, cable was fine after 5 years. These DT770s I have look like they might fail at the headband pivots, but the hardware is replaceable. Cable strain relief at the earcup is adequate and the 1/4" jack feels solid, however, I don't like the feel of the 3.5mm inside the 1/4" adapter. -
Christmas_Man (christmas_man@thebag.social)'s status on Monday, 03-Jul-2023 04:20:37 JST Christmas_Man I've had my DT770's for over 3 years and the cable is doing just fine. -
