@GinNig What line of work? That’s the real hinge.
If it’s something that puts you in contact with women, it can be ehhhhhhhhh. In a way, if it puts you in contact with your wife’s future dad, then you may be on track.

@GinNig I used to not think much of it until I moved and suddenly found myself involved in more rural, community type stuff. Suddenly, there were older folks always asking if I’m single, hoping to set me up with the girl in their family.
It’s not necessarily 2015 forever, the message that “things are real hard in the dating world” has been pretty successfully disseminated. There’s a kind of good family, w/ good girl, where the older ones are eager to tap a good, upstanding guy for their granddaughter/daughter/niece/cousin/neighbor. For lower end workplaces you probably won’t find it much, but if you had access to stuff working w/ professional supply shops, or intermittent seasonal stuff (“I’m just helpin’ out for a bit” work) then you could come into contact with those types. We used to have a fruit stand here that had been ground zero for almost 5/6 marriages in recent memory, just because the guys and girls from the area would constantly meet there. Close by, got a lot of traffic “on the way home”
@GinNig Like, we have this little unofficial, kinda farmer’s market thing selling hay and feed out of this guy’s back lot (having signed up as a dealer and expanded from there) and every time I go there’s at least one marriagable cashier.
I know, normally girls are SUPER cagey about being asked out in public, but I kinda doubt she gets that many takers, 90% of the clientele is over 50, and everyone tends to know each other so they’re pretty protective of ‘so and so’s kid’ when she comes out to work for the summer.
THAT is the kind of thing I’d be somewhat looking for, the kind of small town, community work where everyone knows each other. Jumping into an amazon warehouse is…..eh.
If you don’t have any particular track you’re married to, go hit up an FBO at a small airport, you can be a gas monkey. Those guys swelter in the heat but you get to meet everyone refueling at the airport, good way to meet some airline captain’s daughter before her training flight (early on, when you can save her)
@Christmas_Man @GinNig I think it’s a wonderful job for a self-starter. Great way to demonstrate being a hard worker, enthusiatic, and prompt to a whole captive audience of people with $250,000-$10M on a plane.
Have seen a handful of guys end up in nice roles simply because someone looked at him and said “dang, kid. You work hard. How much you make? I’ll bump it up by $3/hr to start, how ‘bout that?“
