Yes I agree BTC is not useful, but it will be almost impossible to re-create the public mindshare of "bitcoin". Practically everyone (at least in the West) has heard of bitcoin, but only a fraction has heard of "cryptocurrencies" and even fewer has heard of any particular option outside of BTC.

It will take a long time to get beyond the status quo.

IMHO; Satire is supposed to have enough indication that it is not serious. Trolling is without such.

Are these WS2812B LEDs?

The timing of those have changed over time. And IIRC, the old LEDs were so much close to the limit that sometimes they would fail, no matter how the timing was adjusted.
The new timing introduced a much wider allowed time for one of the bit states, that those kind of problems disappear, but the old code is still hovering close to the lower time limit. With newer LEDs, new code should be used and problem is gone.

I live ~30km from a nuclear plant, that was closed ~20 years ago due to that referendum.

I still remember it being built in the early 1970s (my best friend's dad was part of construction crew) and back then (cheap oil) they said there was no point in using the excess heat, and instead just heat up the ocean, rather than hot water pipes to the nearby towns, which today would have been a massive benefit (district heating networks exist in all towns).

Good point about "naming".

In Swedish, it was initially "Atomvapen" (Atom Weapons) and "Kärnkraft" (Nuclear Power), but in the 60s/70s, they first tried with "Atom Power, No Thanks!", but that didn't catch on, so later shifted to rename "Atomvapen" to "Kärnvapen", and hammering that term in over a generation, it was easier to convince people of "Nuclear Power, No Thanks" and in 1980, the Referendum was 3 choices, and all 3 was "Shut Them Down"

Depending on how it looks in practice; I typically try to cover each item with a thick cloth or similar, and that way see if anything get dampened.

I think that a strong "object" concept in OpenSCAD could help with possibility to attach UI controls to such objects. Not sure how.

I relied a lot on https://github.com/nophead/NopSCADlib which is for 3D printers and adjacent projects. It probably contains functions that are generic.
Otherwise, hope you can find something similar.

To a programmer, OpenSCAD has an enormous charm, and easy to understand the conceptual models.

Just that one has to "do" everything that for instance FreeCAD can do out of the box.

Here is my largest OpenSCAD project, with assembly views, DXF for waterjet cutting and BOMs.
