     @niclas the problem is they see how shit bitcoin is and most won't go looking for alternatives. Instead they'll conclude the whole thing is shit (most is). I'd rather people be exposed to monero first personally as it tends to work the way you would expect a currency to work and doesn't cost a million dollars to use.

     Yes I agree BTC is not useful, but it will be almost impossible to re-create the public mindshare of "bitcoin". Practically everyone (at least in the West) has heard of bitcoin, but only a fraction has heard of "cryptocurrencies" and even fewer has heard of any particular option outside of BTC.

     It will take a long time to get beyond the status quo.
