All I'm saying is that it'd be nice if it were made not so much trouble, like how some VPN providers go out of their way to provide payment options that cannot be used to identify anyone. -

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Sunday, 07-Jan-2024 13:07:48 JST 獣耳会社wan @rlier23 @Remi Japan held out for quite some time against incredible levels of pressure, especially from their American suzerain pumping endless pro-immigrant pro-globohomo propaganda through their institutions at every level.
Let us pray the sensible Japanese remaining manage to right themselves quickly, one way or another. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:51 JST 獣耳会社wan Another aftershock, this one at Shindo upper-5.
Announcements continue to focus on the tsunami evacuation, repeatedly urging residents to not stop or become complacent under any circumstances. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:51 JST 獣耳会社wan The NHK, of course, regularly drills their disaster response; they are so far bang on time. Coverage of the announcer from the studio in the earthquake's coverage area shakes from time to time as aftershocks pass through. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:50 JST 獣耳会社wan Regular reports are coming in from nearby nuclear power plants; both the plants and their surrounding radiation monitoring posts report no deviation from the norm. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:50 JST 獣耳会社wan And another, with the epicenter in a slightly different place. Announcements warn as each aftershock hits, to allow those who've already reached evacuation zones to brace. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:49 JST 獣耳会社wan NHK: "It is getting dark – please be careful but do not give up. Do not approach rivers or go to the coastline to check the present situation. Continue evacuating to higher ground; if you have already reached a safe area, do not go back and do not let your guard down."

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:49 JST 獣耳会社wan Footage from <removed> from inside a stopped shinkansen at Niigata Station shows the earthquake's effects from some distance away.
Edit: It was hastily reposted footage, as usual. Removed in case it turns out to not even have been from this earthquake. Plenty of footage coming in on that NHK stream above, if you want to see.
(Related: NHK reports that the Akita shinkansen has just resumed operation, though others remain halted for the time being.) -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:48 JST 獣耳会社wan "Dinner time approaches," says the NHK, "but please remain mindful of aftershocks," – as the automatic aftershock warning tone sounds – "especially if you use gas."

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:48 JST 獣耳会社wan Reports coming in of the next series of tsunami surges. Nothing above 50cm so far, but NHK announcers repeatedly warn in no uncertain terms that sudden floods can hit at any time. "Do not let your guard down, continue evacuating", they keep repeating.
Earthquake damage reports coming in: A few collapsed buildings, some people trapped, a few areas have lost power, and a few fires have broken out.

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:47 JST 獣耳会社wan Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority reports that they've observed some coolant sloshing, control rod vibration, etc., but all affected reactors' earthquake countermeasures appear to remain well within their tolerances. Likewise, the plants' surrounding observation posts report no difference in observed radiation from before and after the quake. The NRA says they will immediately issue evacuation orders should any release of nuclear material be suspected.
Another lower-5 aftershock chimes. They're like dice in a cup over there, damn. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:47 JST 獣耳会社wan NHK reports 70cm tsunamis in some places. They further report that the earthquake damaged roads and bridges (very expected in a shindo 7 quake) such that firefighters, ambulances, and rescue crews are unable to reach some areas where they are required.
No word yet on the SDF's movements, though I recall that the government issued a disaster response order a little while ago. It will likely take a little more time for national assistance to reach the affected areas.
Aftershock chimes continue to sound every few minutes. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:47 JST 獣耳会社wan Japanese Twitter/Xitter user @fcbliebe1900 offers helpful otaku advice together with an example concert penlight power consumption chart: "For those who are suffering from power outage due to the earthquake and are using concert penlights/glowsticks as flashlights, if you use white or purple, they will discharge quickly. Even if you feel anxious and want to turn on a brighter color, please be patient."
"Cheap penlights have 3-color LEDs and RGB (red, green, and blue) to create colors by combining multiple colors (the three primary colors of light), so the batteries of the mixed colors will drain faster. However, penlights with LEDs of three or more colors are different from this graph; some white ones have long battery life, but LEDs are highly directional, so do not stare at them when they are lit."

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:46 JST 獣耳会社wan The NHK reports that the governor of Ishikawa prefecture, which was at the epicenter, has now requested that the Self-Defense Force deploy to assist. Footage coming in from that prefecture shows buildings collapsing during the initial quake, some images displayed show roads cracking and/or collapsing under liquefaction of supporting earthwork.
Additionally, an 80cm tsunami was recently logged in Yamagata Prefecture's Sakata City, and a 90cm tsunami in Ishikawa prefecture's Kanazawa Port. Evacuation orders remain in effect. -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:45 JST 獣耳会社wan Japan's Self-Defense Force has not as of yet received requests for deployment from any of the governors of affected prefectures, reports the NHK, so all response remains in local authorities' hands. SDF bases in the area continue to act as local evacuation points, with one base reportedly having accepted around 1,000 evacuees so far.
Although the earthquake caused fairly significant damage (relative to Japan's level of earthquake hardening), things seem to be smoothing out. Fingers crossed! -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 20:35:44 JST 獣耳会社wan Examination of the 1.2m tsunami measured earlier shows a flat line after the 1.2m peak. "The natural world is never that stable; we think the sensor failed after that 1.2m point, so we don't yet know that peak's true height," comments their expert.
Analysis of sea levels at various tsunami-affected points shows movement consistent with tsunami activity, though NHK notes that the normal evening tide is presently coming in as well, muddying the analysis somewhat.
The NHK continues to urge people to not return home based on calm-looking images; aftershocks may continue for several days which may push OK-looking buildings past the point of collapse, and these may yet cause a larger earthquake in the coming days.
Various warnings about keeping warm, carbon monoxide poisoning, and so forth are also included.

獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 17:55:08 JST 獣耳会社wan Evacuation overlays on NHK's stream have upgraded to cycle 「大津波 / にげて!」 and 「HUGE TSUNAMI / ESCAPE」.
Announcers are, in very direct Japanese, issuing orders to immediately flee to higher ground. "Do not give up. Escape now." -
獣耳会社wan (wan@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 01-Jan-2024 17:55:07 JST 獣耳会社wan Ten earthquakes/aftershocks have been recorded so far, ranging from Shindo 7 to Shindo 3.
The Shindo scale (known outside Japan as the "Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale") is a method of reporting an earthquake's strength that categorizes an earthquake's intensity based on its actual felt effects: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Meteorological_Agency_seismic_intensity_scale
Shindo 7 is the scale's highest level. The latter diagram (By Japan Meteorological Agency, CC BY 4.0, commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=97264979) explains.
