Japan's Self-Defense Force has not as of yet received requests for deployment from any of the governors of affected prefectures, reports the NHK, so all response remains in local authorities' hands. SDF bases in the area continue to act as local evacuation points, with one base reportedly having accepted around 1,000 evacuees so far.

Although the earthquake caused fairly significant damage (relative to Japan's level of earthquake hardening), things seem to be smoothing out. Fingers crossed!
