NHK reports 70cm tsunamis in some places. They further report that the earthquake damaged roads and bridges (very expected in a shindo 7 quake) such that firefighters, ambulances, and rescue crews are unable to reach some areas where they are required.
No word yet on the SDF's movements, though I recall that the government issued a disaster response order a little while ago. It will likely take a little more time for national assistance to reach the affected areas.
Aftershock chimes continue to sound every few minutes.

Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority reports that they've observed some coolant sloshing, control rod vibration, etc., but all affected reactors' earthquake countermeasures appear to remain well within their tolerances. Likewise, the plants' surrounding observation posts report no difference in observed radiation from before and after the quake. The NRA says they will immediately issue evacuation orders should any release of nuclear material be suspected.
Another lower-5 aftershock chimes. They're like dice in a cup over there, damn.
