The NHK reports that the governor of Ishikawa prefecture, which was at the epicenter, has now requested that the Self-Defense Force deploy to assist. Footage coming in from that prefecture shows buildings collapsing during the initial quake, some images displayed show roads cracking and/or collapsing under liquefaction of supporting earthwork.

Additionally, an 80cm tsunami was recently logged in Yamagata Prefecture's Sakata City, and a 90cm tsunami in Ishikawa prefecture's Kanazawa Port. Evacuation orders remain in effect.
