The reason: my mother is having knee replacement surgery. I don't know when I'll be home, and even if I am home in time I will of course have to do a lot to help her settle in.

I ultimately decided against it because I didn't want to have to move a heavy piece of shit used only for one thing that I could emulate on a LCD monitor with whatever effects in the emulator to make it look like a CRT anyway.

You only see old ones still in use, for niche stuff or whatever.

A lot of forums I used to frequent in the past, if they even still exist, are complete ghost towns.

It seems that hobbyist era is over. I think a lot of such people are elsewhere. Or atomized. Or, best case scenario, doing things offline instead.
