   it is honestly a shame that fedi on the whole has fostered more of a twitter-adjacent culture as opposed to classic blog-type poasting. just in terms of average post length i mean, i really do enjoy reading a nice meaty blogpost on something that i may not be personally interested in, but the autist behind the other keyboard finds fascinating. a lost opportunity perhaps

     @merchantHelios You'd have to go back to an internet forum format with topics and indexing to keep stuff like that alive. Twitter format means Twitter culture.

     @weaf @merchantHelios I remember the coxg (city of heroes private server) tried to have a forum but barely anyone used it. Most used the discord instead, despite clamoring for a forum.

     You only see old ones still in use, for niche stuff or whatever.

     A lot of forums I used to frequent in the past, if they even still exist, are complete ghost towns.

     It seems that hobbyist era is over. I think a lot of such people are elsewhere. Or atomized. Or, best case scenario, doing things offline instead.
