He was a CIA backed leader. One of my friends spent time in Chile, and told me the woman she stayed with was in total denial. "Oh those people just left the country; traveled North" even as bodies were still being discovered in the 2000s.
Atlantis and most of the old civilizations most likely vanished, not due to hubris, but from a comet that broke apart and caused several impacts at the end of the Younger Dryas. The ice sheets likely absorbed (and thereby hid) evidence of impacts. Most ancient stories about a serpent bringing about the end of the world (including the Bible's) likely refer to the Sky Snake, e.g. the comet.
Every news article adds something about this man being a victim. The videos all go out of their way to both use her and they. As if some past crime justified his behavior in assault allegations.

Their systems do use computer vision to detect thiefs, and an employee does get to review video if you get flagged. I've had this happen to me once for a false positive. It's the reason their system's don't use the weight of the product like other systems (so you can actually scan things way faster; you can scan multiple items before you bag).
The 2nd part with data brokers does sound like a fabrication.
I use to be that way, but I kinda prefer self checkout these days. I always bring my own bags and I do a much better job of bagging than those dumbshit high schoolers. When I get home, everything is already in the right bag for where it goes in my house.
I use to hate them two out of principal back in the early 2000s until I took a summer job at a Winn-Dixie. Getting put on self-checkout were the best shifts.
Wal-Mart invested a shit ton of effort/money into software that tracks you with computer vision and flags people who try to cheat them. The cashier comes over and then gets to watch the video clips with the suspicious parts highlighted. It doesn't get a lot of false positives either ... so it's gotta be pretty bad for Wal-Mart to be like "fuck it, we're physically watching everyone..."
