Not sure whether it was Streamyard or Firefox or my OS to blame but it seems the screen sharing transitions came out horribly choppy in the recording of my talk from Groningen on Tuesday so here we are…
*le sigh*
(I’ll try to have the transitions I recorded locally edited in and the video up sometime today.)
Hello! This is Freedo, your friendly Linux-libre spokespenguin. We’ve just rolled out new versions: 6.9.4-gnu, 6.6.33-gnu, and 6.1.93-gnu. Each release has been carefully scrubbed to respect your freedom, making sure you control your software, not the other way around. Let's keep marching towards a future of free software. Happy updating, everyone! #GNU#Linux#Linuxlibre#FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom
For years I’ve argued that desktop #Linux really needed some professional marketing to raise awareness. Never could have imagined that in 2024, Microsoft Recall and Apple Intelligence would be the high-profile ad campaigns Linux needed 🤣
Given the choice between using a graphical user interface (GUI) or a command-line interface (CLI) app for completing tasks on your #macOS, #Linux, #FreeBSD or Unix desktop, which would you prefer? Why?
I'm afraid to remove OpenJDK 8 from my Ubuntu #Linux desktop because it might break something else. APT just updated it. However, if I try to remove it, APT will install the new OpenJDK 11. Hah. APT is brilliant.
I've noticed some time ago that most of my Linux devices have two IP addresses in my local network, on a single wlan interface (192.168.1.127 and 192.168.1.128 in this screenshot)
Both of them work - I can ping those addresses from another device in a local network.
Why is that so? Why two addresses for one network interface? And how?
The mass exodus from #Windows to #Linux (and #Mac) due to #Windows11 and #AI continues. More and more articles, more and more youtube videos about it, or posts on forums. People are switching. If it continues like that, Linux should have 10% desktop marketshare by the end of the decade (and yes, that's a lot).
