I often think about how before the invention of clocks/watches, there wasn't a super convenient way to tell precise time, so if you were to schedule a meeting with someone at a certain place, you'd probably be spending quite a bit of time loitering. No gadgets to pass the time, either.

@Griffith People who come to our beliefs generally find it impossible to make media that alludes to our beliefs without shoving it down the viewers throat. I feel apprehension when considering whether to introduce my brother to Murdoch Murdoch, for example, because even if it's good, it's embarrassing to enjoy.

I've been trying to curate stuff that's digestible to others. It's relatively easy to show someone old Sam Hyde stuff, or lend them Mike Ma's books, but beyond that everything else is non-fiction depresso posting.

Hitler understood aesthetics and the importance of shaping culture, but his works alongside goebbels really only worked for that specific demographic during that specific period of time. We're now so atomized in a cultural deficit that any singular piece of media will only affect a smaller percentage of the population, and those guys will certainly not be geographically gathered to make a difference in meatspace.

I haven't been fucked by the system because I knew not to draw attention to myself. I learned quickly and early to be as independent from it as possible, and I've found avenues where working hard does net benefits, but that's completely outside of this dichotomy your post draws.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @graf In a world of single-parent only-child peers, it's nice hearing others talk about large family dynamics. Having multiple siblings older and younger really defined my childhood and I'm sad so few got to experience the same.

Was at a gas station with some coworkers, cashier was very cute. I leave and later they tell me she was asking about me when I left like she was interested in getting to know me.

This has literally never happened before and I don't know what to do.
