@Owl
That is because, there has been a never ending war on, who God is, and what He wants. From the Bible through today.
And usually within a generation of someone walking up to the truth, and causing a revival, it is supplanted by teaching people how to behave in a way that brings them approval from Christian Leadership.
It is an inevitable consequence of organized Christianity. The truth says, God wants to be your friend and lift you up, even all the way to Heaven, because he loves you. That Jesus has paid your way into this friendship. But, you can't demand money, and service from people with a truth such as that, now can you?
So, in every generation, the truth is obfuscated and the words twisted, so that the people who want to know and please God, spend their time and money pleasing the Churches.
And, that is 99% of the Christians today. I've been to many local churches in recent months, and certainly none of them deviate from this paradigm.

@EdBoatConnoisseur It is late, and I am feeling free, so I dare to point out that, nuns and dressed like the pagans they replaced xD But! Don't worry, with 8 hours of sleep I will be as tolerant of pagans as God staring down out of Heaven at the prosperity preachers.

@Tadano @SuperLutheran There are obviously a lot of ways this can be handled.
The most direct being to point out, that they can attempt to sit as judge over God at their own peril. I think that is how satan got his name, by accusing God.
The second most direct being to point out, that they were only able to keep the children through disobedience to God... they were supposed to kill those children.
Thirdly, I think they are probably right on the money about the fate of said children.
But, overall, the morality of the Israelites or of God's decisions in a modern context isn't your problem. If they want to hold onto this, as a reason to reject the most wonderful person in all of creation, that is their problem at the end of the day. And, God will protect their right to choose such an ironic fate.
"God made the best decision available at the time, and you'd be wise to not hold it against Him." ~ my response, probably

@skylar @teknomunk @sickburnbro Isn't geothermal AC, radiating into the ground instead of the air? I feel like you'll still need two phase changes for effective heat transfer.

When reading a book, or watching a show, if I discover that the author just wants me to suffer with the protagonist for hours... I hit the eject button.
If I wanted to suffer, I'd just watch the news.
