@WashedOutGundamPilot @idea_enjoyer It's not a prot issue it's an affluence issue. Well to do Western Christians, Roman Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox, have the same issue where the Gospel of Christ is supplanted by the gospel of nice.
Pastors should be working against this and reorienting their congregations to care for the people they live with, but there's a very real danger of being knifed in the back, since niceness has become and idol just the same as loving the stranger more than your brother. I still remember the moment I dared to say to a collection of pastors "it's great that you're converting immigrants who come here, but what about the Anglo-Australians that are already here?".
I cannot wait for Western Christianity to rediscover the theology of the cross first-hand.

@Samhydeigger @nugger @Reluctant_Weeb @mushroom_soup @DEERBLOOD @Nelenese Better a full pizza hut church than an empty cathedral. There's also the reality of maintaining those old beautiful churches. A cost that, in my experience, fewer and fewer congregations can afford.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter where we gather to worship, whether it's in someone's home, or a cathedral in the middle of a major city, what matters is that we gather to worship the Lord our God.
