I eventually did right by my wife and married her but we wasted years in fornication, left an enormous amount of money on the table in heavily subsidized university housing and other government bennies that would have been available to us if we were married, and most importantly frittered away enough time to have 2 or 3 more kids.

    By piss-earth standards we're doing great, but it would have been a sore disappointment to my great grandpa. Could tell the same story going at least 2 more generations back, collectively we have pissed away enormous family wealth in these dalliances.
