   @Shadowman311 When they talk about "conserving" they often describe a life recipe I think of as the "boomer sweet spot":
   
   >grow up in a church, predominately white community with moral guiderails intact
   > permissive, if distressed parents who wanna be progressive and let their kids flout those guiderails
   > inborn, lifelong moral compass zeroed in to that old religious standard
   >freedom to ignore inconvenient, irritating rules after leaving the community & church behind
   
   The end result is the best of both worlds, the freedom to live loose and easy and "have fun", while retaining enough of a conscience that they don't indulge in ruinous sin.
   
   They always wonder why their children lack that same compass, though.....

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Shadowman311 Make no mistake all sin is ruinous in the end though. I eventually did right by my wife and married her but we wasted years in fornication, left an enormous amount of money on the table in heavily subsidized university housing and other government bennies that would have been available to us if we were married, and most importantly frittered away enough time to have 2 or 3 more kids.
     
     By piss-earth standards we're doing great, but it would have been a sore disappointment to my great grandpa. Could tell the same story going at least 2 more generations back, collectively we have pissed away enormous family wealth in these dalliances.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Shadowman311 A video did the rounds recently of a prominent American thinker that said the greatest generation were called "dogfaces" because they were taught blind adherence to authority, and that their blind adherence was split 50/50 between academics and the military. The drill instructors taught you blind obedience to the military and the GI bill delivered you to professors that did the same for academic institutions. The mass media monoculture at the time (radio, magazines, books) manipulated that adherence even further, paving the way for the sexual revolution, racial desegregation, no fault divorce, etc. America's hellish mkultra monoculture was born there. The greatest generation were the first White men taught to "stop and call for an authority" when they saw trouble instead of handling it themselves
