Well, I lifted the most blighted of the potatoes, got a whole 100g from them. Iโve put cloches over the other two of the same variety, weโll see what happens.
@thatguyoverthere If you want to non-direct sow peas, a length of guttering pipe is a common technique. When you come to plant them out, dig a shallow trench and slide the soil and plants out of the guttering and into the ground.
@HebrideanHecate Not a problem Iโve ever had! Sun / water / poor soil would be my guesses. Is this new for existing plants? If so Iโd get them some compost or similar organic matter added on.
@thatguyoverthere@dave I used to do it if I happened to be at the supermarket at yellow sticker time and they were putting a load of short-dated cream out. Even then, Iโm not sure it was financially worthwhile.
@thatguyoverthere@FarmerLotus I had what was supposedly a Campbell that I hatched from a bought egg. Iโm pretty sure dad was an appleyard who got into the wrong enclosure, because she was huge and much more duck-shaped than my runners or Campbells:
@thatguyoverthere Great news! Definitely better with new potatoes to leave them on the plant, and old potatoes benefit from a week or two in the ground after you take the foliage off.
Also, a bird. Iโm not going to say Iโve never seen a bird in the garden before (if only because there was a robin that popped in a few times when it was snowy), but itโs not at all common, so Iโm inordinately excited: please come back often, bring your friends and eat bugs! Hopefully it will find the bird feeder: I shook a bit of seed onto the floor nearby to give it a hint.
Induction into this religion begins with a baptism: the selection of pronouns and often a new name, greeted with all the celebration (and more) of a conversion. It evangelizes aggressively: through social media influencers, who claim to know a teenโs truest self better than her parents and to love that teen so much more than they ever could. Therapists, teachers, and school counselors play evangelist to numberless kids at American school.
Thereโs no physical evidence that any of us possesses an ethereal gender identity, of course. It may actually be disprovable; there is a good deal of evidence against it. No matter. The adherents take it on faith. The notion that each of us is born with a gender identity, utterly separable from our physiology, known only to us, imagines gender identity as the secular version of the โsoul.โ
