Didn't really understand how sensitive pea roots are. Apparently they are best direct sown. Lesson learned.
I am carefully planting each of these in a potted planter with something else. I also added a few to the raised bed I have next to the green house, and I'm thinking I might try and get a few in near the roots of one of our rose bushes.-

When you come to plant them out, dig a shallow trench and slide the soil and plants out of the guttering and into the ground.
Or use rootrainers: deep individual modules.

they had one that looked as it needed to come home from the grocer, i have seeds but this was already remarkably happy so it came back with me.
it's too small but it looks well enough to get on properly. 2 summers ago i had a four foot tall basil that went on for monthsDisinformation Purveyor :verified_think: likes this. -

I tried a leaf and it seemed a bit spicier than that, almost like a mustard. It's just starting out so I need to let it grow but I think it'll be a nice addition to our food this year. -
