@kuba that's it, if rick-rolls stop working YouTube is simply too broken to be useful.
This video makes some great points on this:

@vfrmedia @kuba oh interesting. I had no login wall nor age check on it, in a clean incognito browser
In this case though it seems to me that it's not Vimeo's fault that the UK regulators are forcing them to do this… Whereas YouTub is freely making a decision to enshittify their service.
@tek no no see but a chair is not a computer! And here it's about computers! Computers are complicated and scary and magical, we can't have just anyone fixing their own computer, can we now!
@icd brawo! ✊

I believe we have not done this for a while, so in the light of the new #WebEnvironmentIntegrity shenanigans, can I have a hearty "Fuck Google" please? :blobcatmegumin:

@arek mam Wallabaga, ale to do rzeczy zapisanych na później. Nie nadaje się też do wideo, dynamicznych jakichś wizualizacji, itp.
@didleth technologia internetowa, rok 2023. 🤦♀️
:blobcateyes:
Kombinuję, jak to rozwiązać, bez używania Pocketa.
Based on the-federation.info, it looks like over the last ~3 days #Fediverse added about four BlueSky's worth of active users. :blobcatgiggle:
That spike there is roughly 800k monthly active accounts.
Obviously measuring this is difficult, and there are weird bumps like the one about a month ago (visible on the chart), but this time it is confirmed by other metrics sources.
Not all of #NewHere will stay, just like in previous waves. But many will. And it will make fedi more diverse and fun. 🎉
I don't "generate content". I debate, share my thoughts, shitpost, empathize and provide support, and so on.
Looking at me, communicating and sharing and empathizing with fellow human beings, as a "user" who "generates content" is reductive and — I dare say — dehumanizing.
It takes the humanity out of it, it removes the human drive to communicate from it, leaving only empty artifacts behind.
Artifacts that can then be taken and melted down into "data":

When Conquistadors stole Aztec gold — which largely came in the form of cultural artifacts or religious items — they often melted it down into simple, crude even, gold bars for easier transport:
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/gold-bar-once-belonged-aztec-emperor-moctezuma-180973959/
After all, they were not interested in the cultural and religious significance of these items. They just wanted the gold, which they could easily sell to others.
By reducing it to the raw material they destroyed the cultural and historical context. We are all poorer for it.

With "AI-generated content" all over the place, perhaps more people will get it why I objected and continue to object to using the term "user-generated content" for anything, anywhere, ever.
It's *people*, not "users."
It's *created*, not "generated."
And often it's just as creative as any "serious art."
Of course, tech robber barons want to make it seem like it's some undetermined grey goo, "content" to be mined and filtered and "engaged with", instead.
Wow, #Vice, that's an absolute shitshow of a "#privacy consent screen." 🤦♀️
It seems designed *specifically* to trick people to consent to things they might not want to. 👀
Settings in "User Consent" tab are "off", but there is a "Legitimate Interest" tab with the same settings turned on? The "User Consent" tab is displayed by default. It's easy for someone to think "oh, that's off, good" and hit "Save & Exit." 🙄
Obnoxious, manipulative dark pattern and a malicious (mis)implementation of GDPR! 😠
The Hype must flow.
The amount of hype gained by the system must be exactly equal to the amount of hype lost by the surroundings.
@dansup fedi admins meeting with Meta under NDAs is shit, that's what it is.
It's effectively giving Meta power over fedi, by giving Meta power over what fedi admins can and cannot share with their communities.
Which admins went, do you know?

Każda osoba trans doskonale to rozumie. Każda osoba publikująca w prasie podziemnej to rozumie.
Poza tym ludzie piszą przecież głupoty też pod prawdziwym nazwiskiem.
