@nimda i dont think it matters if png is pixelated, the browser renders gif and png differently, tor browser renders gif in a pixelated way, even when shrunk, but png when shrunk becomes nice and smooth. i did this in inkscape, the pink blends better and the eyes look better.......i'll add the svg data in the next toot
(image: fediverse emoji in different forms with "come for the less centralized social network - flutter around for the fun of it" also the word "fediverse" has "FOSS" after it in superscript to imply that it is "to the power of FOSS")
kudos for putting it up as an emoji @nimda, ol' :fediverse: has done its time....good to have something more classy with :fediverse2: :)
was trying to work out why it looked pixelated and it seems its because they exported it as a gif maybe to keep filesize low, so i just exported as a png below....that should fix it. Its only 13 kb which is still almost half the size of the old fedi emoji!
while i'm here can export the peertube emoji :awesome:
@nimda@fsf@gabriel@Framasoft ok i had to check something... folk need the red too to match the red :peertube_tv: or there is a weird mismatch that doesnt look right... and yes the designer included this red one in the torrent :)
@nimda looks great, the reason i exported the png with gif dithering/opacity is to keep filesize down, its 17.8kb which is less than old fediverse icon (23kb approx),it also almost half the smooth one you exported. Also is a proper sqare. At 100px its basically impossible to tell the difference between them. i like quality, but i think for the long term the 17kb size is better for load times. i'd highly recommend it because i get the impression fedi does suffer from issues like bandwidth.
EDIT it really looks quite stunning as a png im so glad we are here to help fedi develop, tell me how it goes.
@nimda@Framasoft finally, i accidentally exported the normal orange one ( :peertube: ) too big, this one is 8 times smaller (1kb) and matches the 'red' one that i just gave you :)
@silverpill@nimda woo hoo! nice job! i can now find my own statuses at least, which rocks. it still doesn't find other peoples statuses tho, is that intentional, or a sideeffect of something?
when it comes to finding other peoples statuses can it only search on hashtags by default, to avoid over loading the results with off-topic stuff, and stuff people didn't opt-in to being indexed for? mayb @r might have ideas here?
@silverpill@silverpill@mitra.social i love how mitra's front end handles emoji reactions from pleroma. well done!
@r the only thing i see in bloat so far is "pleroma:emoji_reaction" this is fine, but I'm wondering if on hovering over the text the emoji can appear, this gives ppl a choice as to whether they want to see the emoji or not, if that is the reason why emoji_reaction is not currently handled. I know from past communications that u didn't like displaying emoji because you would often get tofu squares, my suggestion of using tooltip via something like a 'title' attribute would get around this.
so ppl know they need to hover over the "emoji_reaction" to see it, maybe a dotted underline(?) such as that which you get from an <abbr> html element???
aside: the css changes are being tested thanks to @nimda including them and working great, they would work even better with html changes but im not greedy and happy with the new css.
I like frogs 🐸Interested in finding a mitra instance that doesn't do eth (monero/bitcoin are okay). One person said go here https://mitra.fediverse.observer/list but the site doesn't work over Tor browser.
