frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Saturday, 20-Jul-2024 05:04:38 JST frogzone i woke up today thinking about something thats been bothering me a lot about :butterfedy1: :butterfedy2: :butterfedy3: fedi, the timeline, it gets drowned by ultra shortform discussions, i dont want to mute anyone because many discussions are great, but i just want something that rotates through everyone i follow in a given time period, eg "give me one post from everyone in the past 6 hours".
the difficulty is coming up with a good "interval time" ie. what if the last "hour" is the most important or, "2 hours" or past "day" ....how to pick this meaningful intervalTime. i'm still in bed thinking about this. Then i realize that the interval time is WHATEVER MY AVERAGE POSTING RATE IS over the day. So if in the past 24 hours I post 1 post per 4 hours then the intervalTime ought be 4 hours. So give me one post from everyone i follow in the past 4 hours.... after that is exhausted? 8 hours, so excluding the posts already shown, cycle through every person i follow who has posted in the past 8 hours, then 12 etc
this way, when i return to :butterfedyC: #fediverse after a break, i can quickly see the latest from everyone i follow, but as i post on :butterfedyA: fedi the interval time will shorten and i'll see things in a more compressed timeframe. The key is to get these intervals right.... maybe 1day.... POST.... 15hrs.... POST.... 9hr POST.... 5 POST.... 3hrs this seems like a good way to go.... after 4 posts the interval is down to 3hrs???
i dont believe likes should affect the intervalTime, boosts maybe can be taken as if the booster made that toot at that time, so if the post ur boosting is from 2 years ago, then it doesn't affect intervaltime.
do you like this idea? what to call this sort of timeline....? Rotary....? Rounded? Cyclic.......??? who knows but i def think i'd benefita lot from a timeline like this.

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Thursday, 11-Jul-2024 07:08:42 JST frogzone @silverpill all the cryptos have tradeoffs, the issue with monero is an inflation bug may lay hidden for a long time. also i'm unaware of any layer 2 for monero that would help it scale, but ive not had a chance to research as much as i'd like.
bitcoin is as private as a person makes it, if a person is to lazy to think about privacy and declares to the world they own coins then that's their choice, i actually don't mind the mildly traceable aspect of it, it gives people an incentive to think about operational privacy and not just blockchain privacy. i think its good for holding govts accountable too, people should see what they are doing.
i know that bitcoin Core (layer 1) can operate over tor and i2p but btcpayserver (L2) operates over tor and i don't know if it operates over i2p, if it does support i2p then i'd be super supportive of mitra being compatible with the btcpayserver api.
if #btcpayserver doesn't do i2p i'd personally give priority to that.
-
frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Thursday, 11-Jul-2024 07:08:41 JST frogzone @silverpill i should make it clear that unless i'm mistaken L2 btcpayserver, operates over tor BY DEFAULT which is pretty neat
i love anything that gives middle finger to the legacy (broken) internet

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Tuesday, 09-Jul-2024 21:22:51 JST frogzone @silverpill btw silverpill, re mitra, i remember bitcoin was an option, or going to be an option, what happened? i'd say bitcoin is a super importan store-of-value.

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Tuesday, 09-Jul-2024 04:13:50 JST frogzone hi @gajim,
nice to see u on :butterfedyC: fediverse! i'm interested in helping a friend find decent xmpp software. I have managed to find the exe and gajim's key via this link, but is there a reason why a can't find a signature file for the exe?
i'm not a windows user so you might need to tell me like i'm 5 years old if/why the signature doesnt apply :aru_0190:
thanks in advance

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Monday, 08-Jul-2024 06:30:10 JST frogzone @arcanicanis @Morghur @PurpCat congrats morghur, i would suggest selfhosting and the invisible internet project (i2p) at geti2p.net has been empowering people for 20 odd years in helping setup a basic jetty server they can publish on. if you want a Markup-to HTML setup (so you don't need to write HTML) then, theres jekyll for that, jekyll spits out a website from fairly basic text files, you might be able to find some nice jekyll templates/themes, is fairly easily to dump out sites with it.
using i2p, you'll be able to choose an address like morghur.i2p fairly easily, too. you can also publish your content as a torrent over i2p, bittorrent is a popular way to find videos and podcasts and all sorts of media, eg wikileaks famously used torrents.
the future is on i2p imo, not the legacy internet controlled by certificate authorities (CAs) aka dubious actors.

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Monday, 08-Jul-2024 06:30:09 JST frogzone @Morghur @arcanicanis @PurpCat when it comes to decentralized hosting, for example if your server goes down, then i've heard good things about IPFS and tahoe-lafs, someone also mentioned solana(?) and Unstoppable domains(?) but i've not had a chance to research those.
the :butterfedyC: fediverse server, mitra, itself is pretty great actually, you can do the usual blog/microblog and even do some optional fancy stuff where it can be linked to a bitcoin or monero wallet (or lightning node? @silverpill ?) for optional paid subscription content i can't say i've ever used this part of the mitra server myself but i think its pretty neat that its possble.
so just some ideas there :)
20245 is year of teh :butterfedy1: :butterfedy2: :butterfedy3: fedi

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Monday, 08-Jul-2024 06:29:39 JST frogzone @Morghur @arcanicanis @PurpCat i'd avoid substack..... sh!t is cloudflare :thinka:
btw this instance was on i2p also at one stage, mitra is designed to federate over both legacy internet and i2p. so yeah, i2p is pretty great, imo its going to be the new transport layer for the web in the future.

frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Thursday, 27-Jun-2024 11:14:47 JST frogzone @silverpill yes, so if i post three images, then in mitra theyre currently presented to the reader like this....
[1]
[2]
[3]whereas mastodom does this:
[ 1 ][2] [ ^ ][3]it just makes the post a bit tighter and it feels less spammy.
btw bloat places the images side-by-side with a max-height, which works well for it but i have spotted a minor css issue, @r where there is no gap between the multiple images in the notifications pane, i'll investigate and fix, R.

:butterfedyA:
:butterfedyB:
:butterfedyC: respectivelyas you can see im an expert weekend waster, i liked what dsfgs did but it just needed a bit more color, anyone can make them a single color for their website but when we are emojiing fediverse they should be joyful as f@ck. again if they are lined up together they might do something special. :p
-
frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Tuesday, 25-Jun-2024 21:39:15 JST frogzone @silverpill btw i don't know where you stand on image arranging, but i wonder if when a post has multiple images whether theyshould be arranged the way mastdon does it? dunno.... do u have ideas about it? if u need someone to do the css im here anyway

now if a person puts each of these above emoji next to each other a bit of magic happens, or should happen. i'll let you try it first @nimda if u like :) -
frogzone@wizard.casa's status on Thursday, 20-Jun-2024 23:24:40 JST frogzone @soonix THANK U for ur response!!!!! I just did a bit of extra digging through the torrent published by dsfgs and found this in the LICENSE file:
>PeerTube logo adapted by DSFGS, original by Framasoft CC-BY-SA 4.0.
thats basically these :peertube_linered: :peertube_tv: :peertube_red: :peertube_line: :peertube_vert: :peertube: emoji, and now THIS!!.... hint: the following makes my head EXPLODE....
> Description: This is a copyleft icon for AGPLv3 fediverse. If you are on a proprietary and/or closed-source platform like F'book Threa(t)s (replace 't' with 'd') then legally the use of this icon CANNOT be used to link to your account.
They have basically made the icon it so Threads users CANNOT use it LOL hence the opposite of META getting control of fedi....(btw @fsf is this even legal?)
>a Google image search
do u have the URL on how this relates to dfsgs according to goggles weaponized hallucination system? it may be a reference to #fedipact and not dick smith supporteers :fediverse2: fedi emoji
3: "fediverse" existed long before "metaverse" we should probably sue them first for polluting the "blah-verse" with their trash, shame noone trademarked "fediverse" for AGPL, right?
4: re resemblance: meta doesn't own the idea of intersecting curves, not the infinty sybmol the meta and demonic emoji are both symetrical whereas the dick design is not, also the dfsgs design includes many colors of the demonic logo without being demonic, also the dsfs design is unique in that it looks like a cute lil butterfly, i don't see any cute animals in the other designs, not at all, i see goggles staring at me and demonic ideologies, lol. there are zero resemblance.
so yeah i didn't mean to stay up this late and now im pumped with adrenaline based on how excited i am by what dsfgs did. lol. if u get the torrent you'll see the full license (magnificence) for urself, the below image is not the full license as i said above there is a LICENSE file with the above clause.
thanks, i must wind down now.
