> Soapbox. It's the same backend as Pleroma and Akkoma, but no one deploys it aside from people that Gleason has personally persuaded.
this is an incorrect statement in several ways.

Please demonstrate even one way in which it's wrong.

Here are facts:
http://demo.fedilist.com/source-code : Wordpress, Pleroma, Misskey, Akkoma, Sharkey, then Soapbox, way down the list, and in most cases (Spinster, Poast, Gleasonator, Nice Crew Dot Wherever, etc., and all the btrf.ly instances), it's Gleason himself, or people that Gleason helped get set up.
It is the same backend. The changes are not substantial; FSE could be said to have a different backend if Soapbox has one. It's not like the difference between Pleroma and Honk or GTS or Mastodon or Peertube.
If I have missed any facts, they are possibly worth knowing. If the disagreement is about how I have characterized the facts, that's probably not going to be useful as we're not going to agree and it's a tangent: it's a footnote to a larger point that YOLDing The Fedi is not desirable nor helpful in accomplishing a goal that is misguided to begin with.

@amerika @fluffy @0 @Forestofenchantment @FourOh-LLC @Hoss @PurpCat @SockPuppet @dcc @dj @doonxib @eriner @istvan @viber I still disagree. I'm following all these people, like a ridiculous number of people, and I just see their posts and go "Ha, cool" and I click "Follow". One of three things happens at this point:
:mgsgb_1: I see their posts a lot and they are usually good posts and I am glad to see the posts here, or sometimes I have something to say about something they said and I reply. (It is organic.)
:mgsgb_2: They block me. (This is organic user interaction.)
:mgsgb_3: They block the entire instance and yell at me. (Hi ParadeGrotesque.) (This is still organic user interaction.)

It's interesting how little organic interaction occurs on the Fediverse, even the big sites.
This is the challenge to its users to fix.

We see the problem of individualism here: everyone pimping their own stuff, no real agreement, and therefore, no power.

@amerika @fluffy @0 @Forestofenchantment @FourOh-LLC @Hoss @PurpCat @SockPuppet @dcc @dj @doonxib @eriner @istvan @viber I don't think "I do not care for this software." is an indictment of individualism. I fail to see a downside in our lack of a Fediverse Hitler; Fediverse Hitler seems undesirable. I am here because there is not Fediverse Hitler.
