i cannot answer, because i never had facebook account for any serious usage.

btw, whatsapp is owned by meta inc. i'm pretty sure that sewer will hit whatsapp sooner or later.

speculative opinion.

alphabet inc probably sucks ... kisses .... gives huge load of money to the orange slime .... soon-to-be president, and mysteriously u.s. justice system doesn't see any criminal wrongdoings. alphabet inc may continue to monopolize everything, like android operating system.

is android going to be more closed and locked system than ios !?

this may backfire, if people get aware of this, they may make angry counter reaction. actually i'm waiting for it more or less.

but i'm worried about some unaware people. if people do not put enough attention to these technologies, they can be manipulated, and not being aware of it.

personally i haven't tested, but worth mentioning.

chromium is developed by google. however, mozilla takes google's money to develop firefox. maybe firefox based is less worse, but there is still google's money and influence somehow.

i may get it this article is targeted for less experienced users, few points though.

sometimes is more important to secure underlying platform than messaging app, usually android or ios. if platform is insecure or compromised, platform or malicious software may access sensitive data. end-to-end encryption is only encrypted in transit, not in both ends.

i'm more worried about android itself, including android open source project. as a worldwide basis, android essentially has a worldwide monopoly.

alphabet inc may steer android into less open direction favoring or forcing google components. in that point android practically is not open anymore.

your wish is based on that apple is somehow trustful. apple is not trustworthy or privacy friendly. apple is worse than others in some way.

i will make an admission. one my linux installation got hacked many years ago. basically it was my idiotic mistake. i forgot to shutdown ssh server or firewall it. good news was that it was simplistic ddos attack script.
