     @eff Signal has two issues in my eyes:
     1. It requires a phone number which means in countries where you can’t get a SIM card anonymously the government may have possibilities
     2. I checked a couple of times the state of the source code on GitHub and it was 9 or 10 months old. But on my phone I get almost weekly reminders to update to the new version.

     @eff I used to be really into end-to-end zero knowledge encrypted messaging but i never managed to get any of my friends or family on board. Too bad.

     i may get it this article is targeted for less experienced users, few points though.

     sometimes is more important to secure underlying platform than messaging app, usually android or ios. if platform is insecure or compromised, platform or malicious software may access sensitive data. end-to-end encryption is only encrypted in transit, not in both ends.
