At least one person on your server has to be following the account for it to show up in searches on your server.
Did you try pasting the full Fediverse account address of your blog into the search box on Mastodon?

Weird... especially the web interface interfering with it!
I'm not sure which bit would need fixing as the web and apps covers many different teams.
It might be a good starting point to ask the radio app developers as they're the common factor in this problem? Apps shouldn't be breaking because of you browsing a website.
Does sound similar.
It sounds intermittent though, as clicking on the link in that bug report renders its thread correctly?
p.s. But then... weirdly, if I paste the URL into the search box to make it appear within my own server, the thread renders fine!
I'm guessing this is some kind of rare database corruption or something? Never seen it before.
Ahh okay! I see.
Weirdly, if I go to the second post and then click on the first post it does display the thread correctly. But then if I refresh the page it goes back to the isolated post.
Does seem like a bug, yes.
You were linking correctly, it does normally work fine. This seems like some kind of freak rare bug? It's definitely not normal behaviour.
p.s. I've just written this up as a guide on the fedi.tips website: https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-post-a-thread-on-mastodon/
Thank you for your service! ๐
Of course.
And yeah, the services eventually shut down and break all their links. Even worse, someone might take over their domain and redirect the links elsewhere to something nasty.
What you linked to doesn't look like a thread? It seems to just be a single post?
If you want to build a thread, post something and then reply to that post to add the next part of the thread. That way, when anyone links to any part of the thread, they will see all the other posts in the thread above and below it.
Normally threads are made by posting something, then replying to yourself to add the next part of the thread, then replying to that reply to get the third part etc.

Also, if you have your multiple accounts on separate servers, if one server goes down the other account will still work.
There are filters which can completely hide material with particular words or phrases (https://fedi.tips/filtering-your-timeline-to-hide-posts-on-mastodon/), but I wouldn't rely on filters alone.
It is too easy on any social network or search engine to see something unsuitable with a single click. You'd need some kind of closed-off network instead, sort of how streaming services have kids sections.

This is a cultural thing, I guess it would depend on the context and the content and how you judge other people might react to it. It's difficult to come up with set rules.
Bear in mind though that CWs are not for things people want to filter out, they are for things where people appreciate a warning before opening.
The URL is visible on a computer if you hover the mouse over it without clicking. Equivalents on mobile are trickier, but it's a general problem with browsers as most links are behind links rather than just written URLs.
To be fair, a few people do use them as a cheaper alternative to domain names, I've seen some activists use them on real life posters for example.
But, yeah, that doesn't apply to vast majority of shortener links!
For what it's worth, I always tell people to use third party apps.
They are better apps, and it is also healthier for the Fediverse's long term survival that the apps are developed independently of the network.
Brilliant! Friendica is great ๐
Some tweaked servers like mathstodon have extra code stuff too I think?
It's only called official, and only exists, because new people were so used to the model created by Twitter, Facebook etc where a centralised company controls the network.
New people were going on app stores and searching for "mastodon" and not finding anything so they assumed it didn't have an app.
As far as I know, that is the main reason there even is an official app.
I personally prefer the official web interface on a computer, but a lot of people use @elk
On mobile I tend to prefer third party apps like Toot!, Ice Cubes, Tusky, Fedilab etc.
Thanks for that mark, great!
By the way, bear in mind GTS is still in alpha testing so there may be bugs. That's not a criticism, it's just something they emphasise themselves so that people manage their expectations correctly.
