what you said on NA about NAS is correct generally, but it's not the medium. a few people always fuck it up for everybody else unless there's appropriate moderation. NAS and a few others have too little, most corporate media and many fedi servers that block NAS have too much. the trick is to favor free speech but not antisocial behavior. the "refuse to accommodate others in personal behavior" types.

decentralized social media is really important. like podcasting and #v4v. don't give up.

you're comparing apples and oranges. @CaliRN619 (assuming it's a real person) is not MSNBC or CNN. those outlets often suck but you listen to them because they're proven to be more reliable than an account that doesn't use their name or face, unlike even the image on the left. we're always stuck trusting somebody in the flow of how information gets to us. to try to help not have a world of shit...we must curate, do basic checking and link to sources.

Please answer my question about who to believe between Furgar and CNN "in the absence of all other facts and context" as you said. Then we can apply that to why I said it was apples and oranges to bring up major news outlets in regards to why you shouldn't so freely share unverified memes. And then we'll get to showing how a failure to follow arguments can appear as trolling and not just good faith conversation, and that instead claiming "you won" compounds it.

dot social seems the best and clearest TLD for #fediverse accounts imo. I need to get there. maybe we should reconsider a lot of these dot coms. and when you already have to include account, domain and TLD when referencing someone on a system with limited characters, subdomains make me sad.
