   dot social seems the best and clearest TLD for #fediverse accounts imo. I need to get there. maybe we should reconsider a lot of these dot coms. and when you already have to include account, domain and TLD when referencing someone on a system with limited characters, subdomains make me sad.

     @wjmaggos The problme with a .social and may other non .com or .net tld's is the corpo that ownes it can easily take it away from you.

     @wjmaggos Bascilly the owners of many top level domains can take down your site for any reason, dot com and a few others are owned by the us so unless you do something illegal its fine. .xyz is one of the worst offenders of this.

     they aren't treated the same as dot com? makes sense since I know dot radio isn't.
