@mntmn Ah, directions are all non-permanent, right?
Still looking if there are any alternative permanent solutions to get my pink on. :3

@mntmn Is that pink the Goldwell pk@all Elumen one? :thinkhappy:
@aral Any reason you're not just going for qemu+libvirt?
This kinda shit is why I'd take a proper FOSS solution over """enterprise""" software any day of the week – even if the UX is often objectively worse. :F
@mntmn @holo_memory @neauoire @theawesomerandomness
That looks *amazing*!
One thing that might be worthwhile exploring for later editions would be adding a thumb index.
Those are kind of a lost art nowadays but I always found them super helpful for books that are more of a lookup piece.
@mntmn https://pilot.bandcamp.com/track/carry-the-flame Biggest tune of the last year IMO. Also, for some real high-class shit, have a listen to Misanthrops "Analog" (2019) and "Universe" (2022) albums.
And if you need more, feel free to ask, I used to be like 80% of the #dnb tag in the earlier days of fedi. :P
@itsfoss I've noticed that when sharing links to my own website, but I thought this was more of a me-problem with the sites performance.
Will be interesting to see how that'll pan out with the new site I'm currently building… :thaenkin:
@mntmn 🤤
@mntmn neat. is this also exposed via /proc?
@mntmn Haven't tested in a TUI browser, but you can also slap the "title" attribute onto pretty much any element, so you can have a text representation for things like <video> and <object>, too. :)
@mntmn ye, just note that if you're dealing with a rigged model with a skeleton, bone lengths are lost due to limitations of the format.
@mntmn I *love* small-scale serial production. This is the kind of stuff that you can set up as a small collective.
Pretty sure this kind of setup is our best chance of setting up socialist industry. 😊

I member… had a lil Flat Eric plushie I drove around on an RC car. 😎
@arstechnica Network-connected… wrenches? IoT is becoming truly too stupid to even satirize… smdh.
@mntmn As somebody who might start developing their own DE in the next couple years… would you mind telling me a bit more?
I read the rest of your thread and most of this would seem to be stuff that shells and terminals have to do, not the DE.
@mntmn Yes and no. 😅
Initial project introduction is at https://phryk.net/article/introducing-fort/
Project repo is at https://rnd.phryk.net/phryk-evil-mad-sciences-llc/FORT but not very helpful right now.
Currently only contains the already publicly available THAM12 design as OpenSCAD model with 45° bevels for more robust connection between the pieces, but with the reinforcement pieces still missing.
Also the prototype I built doesn't even use the 45° bevels because I currently don't have the necessary tooling for that.
@mntmn Not only that – a complete, DC-driven OSHW sound system.
Meeting a person dabbling with d-class amplifiers at the camp, which I think will be an important step towards my goal of creating a modular 19"… thing that acts as USB soundcard but has DSPs + amps integrated.
And in the even longer run, the goal is adding some mic inputs so you can just throw up the system, place measurement mics, press one button and it automatically sets all the DSP parameters.
The speakers of the FORT prototype are now painted bright pink for hopefully at least some protection against water and had some custom grills added.
The one on the woofer might rattle a bit (will have to test), but the ones on the tops are resting on rubber pads and I even managed to add some bevel to them to make some space for the membrane moving forward.
First field test probably tomorrow afternoon at Camp++. :3
@mntmn That will carry over extremely well. The level design and mechanics are nearly 1:1.
But due to the clunky controls I couldn't bring myself to finish the original – not even with a source port with mouse support.
The remake fixes that for me. And cyberspace looks glorious now (and is probably the part they changed most – in a good way).
@mntmn How about the System Shock remake? Extremely solid remake and DAT AESTHETIC.
That's nice to know, because it seemed like it could do a lot, but all of that was effectively hidden behind a big wall of frustration for me. ^^;
If memory serves right, I couldn't even move wire routes without it being a major hassle and just started doing everything on paper.
