But the problem is that people who progress into the creating phase do so out of pocket. No multibillion dollar budgets to dump into better media. And to the person that wages away in the day to finance their pet project which they work on at night, a pet project that may not even take off for reasons outside their control, seeing absolute horseshit churned out and showered in accolades has got to be devastating.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @Hoss @Elliptica The common denominator in all of it is the pursuit of intellectualism. The midwit will accept any amount of degradation if it means doing something that some mouthpiece said is 'smarter'.
The 1 billion dollar play that would disrupt how the hype machine works, would be to come up with a way to take the notion of 'smart' and make it undesirable, associate it with shame in some way.

@Leaflord @ChristiJunior @WashedOutGundamPilot He grew up around muggles similarly to Harry and was viciously mistreated by said muggles. That part (or more specifically the way it was framed) actually hit a little too close to home, if unintenionally. Obviously that was her attempt at making a backstory for a villain, but I could relate to him in that regard better than any of the other characters.

If you grow up around people who are nothing but awful to you, throughout all of your childhood and adolescence and every experience with them involves violence of some sort, why are you not allowed to conclude that they are awful or violent people? Why do I have to engage in this larp, this play-pretend where everyone collectively claims that they are nice and friendly, when your experiences are nothing but the polar opposite? What happened to muh lived experiences?
