@nixCraft I’ve long ago switched my default search engine to DuckDuckGo. On rare occasions I will manually go to Google for a second opinion. Given that AI hallucinations are now commonplace for Google, why would you want use it in the first place?

Have zero interest in a 1970/80’s command mode editor (vi[m]) or the complexity of emacs. I have the escape from vi in muscle memory, but I would never use it to edit anything.

Schamschula (schamschula@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 13-Oct-2024 22:09:54 JST Schamschula @nixCraft I started working with artificial neural networks over twenty five years ago. Among others, I used the same ones for which Drs. Hopfield and Hinton were awarded the Nobel prize. Once trained, each layer is just a set of numbers in a weight matrix. LLMs are just huge versions of the same, using up huge amounts of energy to determine the weights. There is no “consciousness” in there anywhere.

I haven’t run into any build issues on my Macs, even those with only 16GB, but a Mac Studio with 64GB sure gets the job done a lot faster!

How inefficient!
Never mind that you have to be careful not to accidentally overwrite other files by setting the wrong options. -

At least the license isn't infectious, so it's not entirely impossible. -
