Ministerofimpediments (ministerofimpediments@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 26-Nov-2024 11:27:02 JST Ministerofimpediments @arstechnica I’m annoyed…sigh…I’m annoyed that I *have* to care because it’s a (potentially) communicable disease. I mean can we get them back onto bleach or horse dewormer…or arsenic pills or something? Arsenic is all natural…practically a vitamin. I’m good with them offing themselves but I’d just prefer it begin and end there.

Ministerofimpediments (ministerofimpediments@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jul-2024 10:30:23 JST Ministerofimpediments @nixCraft …umm…baloney. Number one; I’ve used/owned a metric ton of mice and it’s the buttons/cables/etc that wear and break…so ‘forever’ is a year or two and I’ll wager I won’t need a software update in that amount of time.
Two, to do it where it is profitable it would have to be both cheap and basically ‘loaded’. Which would make it worth cracking to enable everything without paying.
Three, if it requires a subscription to ‘use’ then their competitors will bury them. -

What it actually does…
“AIbios just leaves my computer on and unlocked until the battery dies. It shows a password screen, but will actually take anything you type in. The screen is always dim, fans run all the time, I have 32 128k partitions for some reason. It randomly sent plain text contents of the hard drive to every network it linked to. Until someone finally stole it…which was fine as the battery swelled, caught fire, killed him, and burned down half a block…so it works…” -

Ministerofimpediments (ministerofimpediments@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jan-2024 06:51:15 JST Ministerofimpediments @arstechnica realistically…(and don’t get me wrong…I hope it burns to the ground)…it doesn’t really matter what it’s worth. For the banks…they’ll move it around so their customers take the hit. For Musk and the other big money investors…it’s all basically monopoly money that they would just blow on something else. They could have done something useful with it but that was never going to happen anyway. They’re assholes.
Twitter will last exactly until the next president is sworn in. Count on it. -

“It’s not a bug it’s a feature.”
It’s all just Monopoly money…and largely not his. Several banks are taking haircuts too…they don’t seem to care. They’ll just pass the loss on to the rest of their customers.
So revenue loss doesn’t matter. If he makes people pay for the dumpster fire…then you’ll see numbers really tail off. People don’t like paying for things they originally got for free. Even Facebook figured this part out. -

Ministerofimpediments (ministerofimpediments@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 22-Sep-2023 21:03:48 JST Ministerofimpediments @arstechnica the article completely misses the point. The issue is that the work was not solely created by a specific tool under the direction of an artist (a brush, camera, or MS Paint), nor was the artist assisted by another ‘person’ as the “AI” is not a true AI but simply an amalgamation of other works that the tool reproduces in some part.
The work is more akin to a mural painted by other artists by direction, or a symphony performance…both without attribution/agreement of the other artists. -

It’s $500 because, hey, you might as well make something like a profit margin. That way when it’s discontinued for slow sales you get some small victory or whatever is explainable in a board meeting.
