@poopernova@Cayhr@rlier23 The wildest thing when I check in to Muyu's streams is how much 2000s nostalgia she sneaks in without feeling like an incoherent memetic hodgepodge. Karaoke streams are essentially a long form shitpost going from Eurobeat, Linkin Park, Hip to be Square that echo the age of Niconico, AMVs, and post-YTP video remixing, traveling the internet from 2005 up to 2015 in song form.
@MoeBritannica So translation is back to the 90s: rough around the edges, censored if the target audience is 12 to 16, but the tumblrinas who write their headcanon into official work aren't totally in control of the western end of the franchises.
@Moto_Chagatai Watch as Amazon build it's own app store to circumvent that in a couple years. There's something Common Filth said about how the Freemasons want to turn every church into a brothel, and making every single website into goon material could be a pretext for that.
@ChristiJunior@NonPlayableClown@Rasterman@alex@coolboymew There's a lot of PSX gems I need to get into, mainly Ape Escape and Spyro for starters. I appreciate 64 for setting the standard but time has really been unkind to it. I think a remake of the DS version with full 360-degree movement and improved camera would be a bare minimum versus plain emulation.
@NonPlayableClown@Rasterman@alex@coolboymew I think this level needed a radar in the top right so you can figure out where you're going as you learn the physics and how to get to all the locations. Having to remember the exact locations while getting the hang of the physics and working with a limited camera makes this stage extremely frustrating.
@ChristiJunior@Rasterman I understand Miyamoto's pure gameplay approach, and it works for many things, but Galaxy 1 really benefitted from its bells and whistles so much that, despite everything going for Galaxy 2, the first game felt more complete and fulfilling. KingK's vid was probably the best explainer of this that I know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBFg1snXtzU
@ChristiJunior@Rasterman That's like a much more benevolent version of Capcom sneaking Megaman X6 in all its rushed messiness under Inafune's nose before he became the Thank You Con Man.
@ArdainianRight@William_The_Dragonborn@AngryWraith I feel like we've barely heard from Jack since the outing but every now and then I see he's still tweeting like nothing ever happened. Art of the grift I suppose.
@ChristiJunior@Irishblackpilled@PanzerTan@professionalbigot69 I knew about Conker from Bad Fur Day before Diddy Kong Racing so that felt self-contained enough. Plus, Rare had tested the waters with this stuff given the many hilarious innuendos and stereotypes in Banjo-Kazooie. That picture looks emblematic of a class who grew up making porn of the media they watched as kids and then got to make the official art despite being unable to split headcanon from canon.
@heavens_feel I definitely need to double check the merch sites once I have the money again, the last thing I got was the Watame mug that lights up with hot water
@beardalaxy@Rasterman A lot of the horror, especially from the late stretch of the game, really did come from what you weren't able to see until it was absolutely necessary to confront or react to. Rotating the bathrooms and hallways in all directions like an action game would really mess that up.
@beardalaxy@luithe@Rasterman I did like Hereditary but that one is chock full of very Jewish neuroses so maybe if you're redpilled it can be hard to appreciate the discomforting atmosphere over that. Trying to think of a horror movie I watched after that, and I'm unsure if the Lighthouse counts.
@luithe@Rasterman@beardalaxy I need to catch up on a lot of old horror/slashers. I've watched a ton of Carpenter but only the first Halloween, and only the first two Nightmare on Elm Street/Hellraiser films.
