@arstechnica Aren't they about two decades too late for this? There's "cat and mouse" and then there's "the mouse is actually a kangaroo and the cat is being beaten up without a chance in the world to fight back" because they let it get so far out of control for so incredibly long without doing anything about it sooner.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Mar-2024 18:20:55 JST Nazo @nixCraft I love the VPN errors. Some are complete nonsense. Sometimes I get blank pages entirely. Sometimes I get stuff like "internal server error" or something. I only figure out it's them blocking my IP range by just the sheer volume of getting these making it my default assumption now.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Mar-2024 10:22:29 JST Nazo @arstechnica It's actually sensible because software solutions can have latency or reliability issues. Especially if damage occurs (such as a crash.)

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Mar-2024 10:18:20 JST Nazo @arstechnica I'm still remembering the printer issue that stayed in there for positively ages. The ability to use external printer drivers to execute arbitrary code is just... stupid. It seems like any large company can be positively glacial to fix such major issues sometimes really.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 13:46:21 JST Nazo @itsfoss Why doesn't Broadcom just cancel all VMWare services, delete all the software, and quit the pretense?
It's honestly starting to feel like someone at Broadcom just had a true deep hatred for VMWare and dedicated their life to ensuring it would die.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 08:23:34 JST Nazo @nixCraft It's amazing that people don't get that. Some people have the time and patience to put 100+ hours into a 10 hour game perfecting weapon and dodge combos with only 10 stamina. Some people don't.
I like a good challenge, but key is balance and a lot of stuff is failing to find balance these days. Everything is getting the Dark Souls treatment. Be perfect or die. I don't see how anyone can find that fun because it's basically play only one thing and do nothing else or fail.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 03-Mar-2024 10:59:44 JST Nazo @nixCraft I always sort of hated it, but what little I do along these lines tends to follow "camelCase" because so many other things start with caps, so I need to do that just to differentiate. I sort of wish it was the other way around and I could use PascalCase or something.

He just hoped he'd be lucky enough to get a judge that wouldn't care. Lately there are quite a surprising number of such judges it seems. He was not so lucky this time.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 15:11:51 JST Nazo @itsfoss I mean it's pretty simple. You can use Twitter that isn't Twitter and learn absolutely nothing from everything that went wrong there or you can use the thing that isn't Twitter and at least tries to fix the things that went wrong. It may not always succeed but I'd much rather at least *try*.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 08:47:19 JST Nazo @arstechnica I still think the whole thing is performative anyway. They don't have a leg to stand on and there is no way they don't know it. Nintendo and Sony have been fighting these same battles over and over for ages and always with the same result (the only exceptions being things like Bleem which actually had copyrighted code in it. Which is why all emulators since it don't provide that...)
They just want people to be scared of emulators. And it works. And it is absolute crapola.

never own a printer again.
Why are people rolling over and letting HP do this stuff? Literally buy anything else. It's time for HP to stop being a company. They've had their run.

Now we need a fourth option to provide a fully open standard everyone will accept.

It was just a way for MS to try to get something more modern and secure built into the OS and forced on many users where they could also throw in their own stuff.
