potpie (potpie@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 01:09:49 JST potpie @nixCraft Damn straight. Getting good at something like that takes time and attention. Most of mine is already claimed, so... I embrace the casual.

Antti Joutsi (jarizleifr@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 02:21:34 JST Antti Joutsi @nixCraft I always play CRPGs on hard, because it just means I'll need to use all resources available to me, which I've found to improve my engagement with the game.
Often when playing complex games on easy or even normal, you can just ignore some mechanics of the game and still beat the game, which to me feels like I'm playing only a subset of that game.

enoch_exe_inc (enoch_exe_inc@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 09:26:05 JST enoch_exe_inc @nixCraft Yes, but not usually because I don’t want to grind. It takes time to learn a new game, and I’d rather learn it without having to worry too much about getting stuck.
I just got Factorio for Christmas last year, and the eighty-hour grind to launch my very first rocket was done on peaceful mode.

Chris Wu :toucan: (museumshuffle@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Mar-2024 22:55:32 JST Chris Wu :toucan: @nixCraft i’ve gotten to the point where I just want to explore, find secrets, solve puzzles, and enjoy a story. Boss fights are a miserable experience that impede me from continuing to enjoy the parts that I like. I don’t want to grind and/or repeat fighting a boss over and over again.
