Kinda makes me want to find my first school 'computer lab' teacher and ask 'hey, what do you think about these developments?'
I remember they would blow a gasket if you had anything remotely identifiable. They would also go around trying to trick kids into giving them their password then shame them in front of the whole class if they did, it was pretty funny.

@WashedOutGundamPilot Oh dude, I use citrisurf at work for passivating stainless steel (I was originally given some stuff containing hydrofluoric acid and I said fuck no I'm not touching that).
It's good stuff, no complaints and there hasn't been any rust on the stainless parts after 4 years in a corrosive environment.

I've never seen rubber undercoating actually protect anything. It always separates from the base metal, traps water against the metal and rusts everything out while concealing the fact. Oil mist/fluid film/wurth film has never let me down.

@Shadowman311 @Elliptica @EssentialUtinsil last year I got a call from an old job asking me if I could look at their printer after a power outage. tl;dr their entire payroll system runs off an old desktop running DOS hooked up to a dot matrix printer and they have no clue how it works, how to fix it or how to modernize. They told me they were quoted somewhere around $25k to upgrade.
They were unable to print any paychecks until that printer was fixed.

@EssentialUtinsil @Shadowman311 @Elliptica Hey, at least they managed to fix the software bug that rendered them useless after running for 20 hours without a reboot. And all it took was 28 people getting blown up before they decided to patch the (known) bug.
