@Suzu Why are people still making Undertale/Mother clones?

@djsumdog @suquili @Turkleton @WhiteJihadJaws I remember signing up here almost four years ago, and it being a breath of fresh-air compared to 8chan. It was much more laid-back and open-minded because I was expecting most of the freeze peach side of the Fedi being people ranting about Jews and race-mixing 24/7. Sure there were some of those people there, but it wasn't a complete echo-chamber. I had a bunch of people from various backgrounds, political views, and interests following me.

Now, I'd argue that this place is even worse than most imageboards. At least on an imageboard, if I don't want to talk about politics and current events at the moment, I can easily go on one of the tech or video game boards. Sure, some of the political shit would naturally bleed in, but it wasn't as bad. On the fedi, there is no-escape unless you create a massive blocklist/mutelist. And you can't even make an unpopular opinion anymore without being dogpiled. Also, complete anonymity means that posts are judged by the content and not the user, so you don't have to worry about building positive or negative reputation about yourself.

Maybe my experience on here would've been better if I never talked about politics on here, and instead focused on gamedev, but I signed up during the middle of the George Floyd riots and the biggest medical psyop in the history of the world, I couldn't help it.

If you want something more like the old Fedi, you could try Nostr. The crypto begging has died down somewhat, but it's still a bit of a right-libertarian echo-chamber. Sure, Nostr is technically part of the Fedi thanks to the mostr.pub bridge, but I don't see many of the Poast-types going after the Nostr accounts.

So my baby niece's favorite plushie is a Kirby doll and she loves books, so I decided to look to see if there were any Kirby books for little kids, but they are all Japanese-only, except for It's Kirby Time which is only available as read-alongs on YouTube.

You'd expect that a franchise that is a cash-cow for merchandise would have children's books in English, but apparently not.

@coolboymew If I can only guess (assuming this video is real) it's probably arbitrary code execution that changes the value of one of the strings.

I'm not in favor of UBI generally, but this is a misunderstanding of what happened during Covid.
Yes, "stimmy checks" were handed out, but there was a lot of other insane (& criminal) financial engineering going on.
Using policies to shut down small businesses to give large players a de-facto monopoly has also enabled a lot the problems.

I understand the point you're making but it's a pet peeve of mine when people blame inflation entirely on low-income recipients when there was a lot of fraud and outright financialized looting going on.

I do agree with your primary point though, I would just suggest pointing to "government taking direct control of the economy" rather than the mere handouts which were only a bribe to enable much worse pillaging.

Imagine still promoting UBI after witnessing first hand how much all the free COVID money fucked the economy.

@LukeAlmighty I agree that ads are the least of our worries. Using surveillance for things like social credit or government control is much more evil. But it would be nice if ads went back to what they were a few decades ago: non-targeted and didn't hog resources.

I tried to make crudely drawn skeleton sprites based on this 16x16 character base sprite.

It turns out that I can't draw a skull from the side so it ends up looking weird from the profile view. It still looks small compared to the player sprite, but I plan on using the same base sprite for the player.

@picofarad I don't plan on using it with Windows. I only use Linux unless I absolutely have to use something else.
