I realized when I was going off to college that tuition costs so damn much because of the existence and availability of student loans. It didn't really hit me until about a decade later that the exact same principle applies broadly to an economy with credit cards.

I think that aspect of the scam is easier for people to see, that many people are so bad with money that they will end up as debt-serfs for life simply because they can't make good choices day to day. The impact of vast credit availability is harder to grasp and I'm sure the (((people))) who pull the strings know it. It's fucked.

Most people will never comprehend how destructive the availability of credit cards has been to prices across the board in the modern era. If you have $100 to your name, you can't afford a new car and the car sellers know it so prices have to come down. If everyone can take a loan out for $100,000 for anything they might need (want), prices go up on EVERYTHING.

My main goal is to start a family and those prospects seem to be a longshot at this point, not because of my age but because women have been herded into a group against the norms of a healthy society. Many if not most are going to do all the wrong things and I'm not a fucking janitor to clean up for one of them simply because she offers the opportunity to reproduce. As the reality sets in that it might not get any better, the only thing to look forward to is trying to enjoy your time here and make yourself comfortable with some dignity by saving enough to buy your own place and trying to enjoy hobbies. Even with all that playing out correctly, there's a maddening daily mindset that the future you wanted has been stolen and I totally understand why many would just give up rather than pay nice with the machine for scraps.
