I still see a difference between being sponsored by $EVILCOMPANY and plattforming $EVILBILLIONAIRE.

The former can be problematic, but I accept it as more or less necessary. The latter is a horrible mistake.

While I'm using #Gajim on desktop and #Dino on mobile, most friends use Conversations or #Quicksy, i.e. I depend on it.

I use #Gajim by @gajim with the "gajim-triggers" plugin. WIth that I have even special sounds for my dears, while others pester me with a boring "pling". I use the standard Debian packages of gajim and gajim-triggers and they "just work for me"...

For the fun of it, you could install your own #Jabber server, e.g. #snikket by @snikket_im and the #slidge gateway by @nicoco. It's a whole set of #XMPP transports, not only for Signal, but also for Whatsapp, Telegram, Discord, Mattermost, Steam, Skype, Facebook Messenger, and Matrix.

Then you could use a native Jabber client, e.g. #Dino by @dino, #Gajim by @gajim or #Kaidan by @kaidan.
