@adam @gargron @Claire @osnews It's also not like the MIT license (or really any OSS license for that matter) is hard to abide by. Mistakes are still easily made though, but it seems you've been patient and gracious - more than you'd need to be.

I love Mastodon, but I love respecting open source licenses even more. It's what open source is built on.

Been actively using Mastodon since November last year. Still no nazis and homophobes etc. in my mentions or anywhere else that I've browsed.

That doesn't mean they're not there - ask any black person on Mastodon - but it does indicate there's far fewer of them because the admins are doing a great job.

@alyssa @marcan I fully agree there's tons of problems in the Linux world with vendors being terrible at supporting their devices on Linux. I don't think anyone disputes that (still waiting on a proper ARM Linux laptop that isn't from Apple!).

My issue was with the wording and optics of the original post, which seemed to imply *only* Asahi cares about getting stuff to work properly, which seems like spitting in the faces of the hundreds (thousands?) of Linux developers who have done and are...

I feel for the developers of Twitter applications - especially those that made a living from it - but it does show once again that relying on walled gardens is a recipe for disaster.

But for some reason, people never seem to want to learn this lesson.
